Aiden's POV

A soft creaking noise echoed out as the basement door was being lifted all the way to its hinges.

Keane's movement was precise and cautious, barely a whisper was made from his contact with the floor upstairs as he went up.

Without a sound, he swiftly tip-toed his way towards the very back wall of the cabin where the shadows lived. I carefully followed right after, my steps proceeding into the main floor, leaving Keane behind.

'Holy ducks I cannot see anything.'

I slowly closed my eyes shut for a few minutes as to allow my vision adjust to the darkness ahead. This is something that Leeia had taught us, a habit we had formed over time.

After a while of relying on the sounds around me, I decided to open my eyes.

'Well, that worked..'

This worn-out cabin's miserable room finally clear once again in my vision. A sense of fear washed over me, making me frozen still in the dark. Man, the creepy vibes in this room is something else, the chills won't stop shooting up and down my spine, goddamit.

I noticed a faint beam of moonlight coming from a window, and though the windows were all barred shut, there was one which had a hole, as if something or someone had broken through it. The cold breeze of air from the outside lingered around the room.

'Shit.. I need to be looking around for things.'

I was reminded of the task I had to do. Towards the desks and cabinets I went, my hands hovering over the dusty objects on the counters.

'What is even all of this? Eeuuhh.'

My face wrinkled in disgust as the thick dust and cobwebs stuck to my fingers. Yuuck.

There was an old and almost rotting glass of wine sitting by the corner of the desk. It gave me an idea of showing it to the others because it was probably an ancient wine that they would've been drinking back in like 500 B.C or something. Or it was simple glass bottle and some old hag had peed in it. Who knows. Nevertheless, I reached my hand to take the glass but it was hard to realize how far it was since it was dark, and so I accidentally bumped it off the desk with my fingers.

'Shoot!'

In a quick attempt to catch it, I bent over to chase the glass with my hand though it was too late.

BRAAM PAM PAM PAM..

In this deafening silence that lingered in the cabin, the noise of the fallen glass bounced off the walls and scattered itself throughout the room. Ahh hell nah I fucked up bad.

I shut my eyes tightly, annoyed at my clumsy ass for making such a loud noise. In my head, I had ruined everything and they're gonna kill me instead. I brushed the thought away, still bent over, I went ahead and continued my way to pick the glass up.

*RUSTLING OF BUSHES*

My hand froze mid-air.

My eyes widened, my heart sank.
