Still running 'round tryna lay up
Still fucking but I wanna make love
I really want to
Don't know why I'm still a playboy

I trailed behind Rae as she slowly made her way into the room. I could see her eyes beginning to fill with tears as she looked over at Dominic's body resting in the hospital bed. He still had the ventilator down his throat because he was still having a hard time breathing on his own. His skin was still so pale from the lack of sunlight he was getting before he was even shot. In the weeks leading up to now, he was spending most of his time locked away in his office. Just like Raelle, he had lost a bit of weight from not taking care of himself while she was missing. Since being in the hospital though he was slowly gaining it back. He was starting to look a lot healthier than he did before getting here.

"Oh baby," She whispered as she got closer to his bedside. I could see her reach her hand out slowly as she delicately began to caress the side of his face. "I'm so sorry, love. I wish it would've been me instead. You don't deserve this." She cried as she continued to rub his face with her thumb.

"Rae you gotta stop saying that. Neither of y'all deserve this shit." I sighed frustratedly because I hated when she talked like that. Both of them were two of the best people I knew. They don't deserve to be going through the shit that they were.

"I know.... I just hate that he's lying here when the bullets were meant for me." She muttered lowly to where if I wasn't standing near her I wouldn't have heard what she said. "Why would you risk your life for me, Dominic?" She asked rhetorically, as she grabbed his hand in hers, interlocking their fingers as she took the seat next to his bed.

"Hell, I can answer that shit for him without even thinking." I chuckled lightly. "That nigga love yo dirty drawls. Nigga would drink your bath water if you asked." I said, making her laugh softly as she used her free hand to wipe the steady flow of tears running down her cheeks.

"I love him just as much. Even more now, and I didn't think that was possible. For him to be so selfless to step in front of a gun for me and not think twice about it is insane." She sighed before bringing his hand up to her lips and placing several kisses on it. Even though he was unconscious I could see a difference in his breathing ever since she walked in the room. It was more steady and his facial features were more relaxed once she began touching him. A blind man could see they had to be spiritually connected in some way. I knew he loved her but to see it up close even had my non-romantic ass feeling the energy shift in the room.

"Has there been any update on his progress since his surgery?" She asked as I went to take the seat opposite hers on the other side of the bed.

"Not much. They keep saying they're waiting for the swelling around his spine to go down before they can give us surgery options." I answered as she nodded her head in understanding. We were both quiet for a while after that. The only sound that was heard was the beeping of Dominic's heart monitor and the slight whisper of his ventilator pumping air into his body.
