"TEE-TEE!!!" Islah and Khaza screamed as they ran up to me at the entrance of the Urban Air I was meeting Dreka.
I hadn't seen them in months and it showed with how big both of them had gotten. They both were much taller than the last time I saw them, and their facial features looked more mature. Neither of them looked like the babies I saw a few months ago, and that made me sad I had missed so much.
Islah was turning eight in November and Kaz had just turned six in May. I hated that I missed his birthday but so much was going on at the time with Dom just getting out of the hospital that I wasn't able to go see him. Time waited for no one and I was starting to see how true that was.
"Hi, babies!!! I missed y'all so much!" I smiled as they ran into my arms hugging me tightly. I couldn't help but tear up at them still loving me even after all this time.
"Tee-Tee I'm six now!" Kaz said holding up six fingers making me pout at his adorableness. He usually wasn't a big talker so to hear his sweet voice was giving me all the feels.
"I know lovebug! You're such a big boy. Tee-Tee got you a present since I missed your party this year." I said picking up the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed gift bag that was sitting on the sidewalk next to me. That was his new obsession. No more Paw Patrol which was also sad because it was the end of an era.
"What do you say, Kaz?" Dreka said as she finally reached where we were standing. She looked cute in her simple black maxi dress that was fitted to all of her curves.
"Thank you Tee-Tee!" Kaz said as he opened the bag and pulled out his gift. "COOL! I told Mommy I wanted this!" He exclaimed as he pulled out the box of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-themed pizza delivery van Dreka said he wanted.
"You're welcome, baby. That's from me and Uncle Dom." I said, trying to refrain from rolling my eyes at the mention of that man's name.
We were still barely talking, which was fine with me. After that shit show of a meeting with Lobos, I had nothing to say to him. I was still having nightmares about that gun being placed to the side of my head, and that crazy man Juan Carlos licking my ear. Traumatized isn't even a big enough word for what I feel. It was yet another thing to add to the list of horrible things that have happened to me over the past year.
"Let's head inside y'all," Dreka said as Kaz placed his toy back in the bag and handed it to her. "I'm just storage at this point huh?" She asked while playfully rolling her eyes, making me laugh as we made our way into the building.
After purchasing tickets and jumping with the kids for a while at their request, Dreka and I decided to take a break. Grabbing a wing basket with some waffle fries and a strawberry icee I took a seat at a table off to the side. Dreka was still waiting for her pizza to be done so that gave me a few minutes to text Dro back.
