If I couldn't feel your touch
And no longer were you with me
I'd be wishing you were here
To be everything that I'd be looking forThe crisp winter air had Athena adjusting her black Burberry trench coat tightly against her body. She was wishing that she had grabbed a heavier coat before leaving her home, but she was thinking Texas would be a little warmer than Virginia this time of year since it was in the south. Sadly she was mistaken. There was a slight chill in the air as she made her way through St. David's Medical Center. Her best friend and sister being on either side of her as her nieces followed closely behind the trio.
She had spent the 3 hour flight here trying to keep herself from having a heart attack. The call she had gotten just a couple hours prior explaining how her oldest son was fighting for his life after being shot multiple times, heavy on her mind the entire flight. She was trying her hardest to remain positive, but it was hard.
"I'm going to go get Kasim for yall." Kevin's voice was heard knocking everyone out of their thoughts. Kasim wasn't answering his phone because he too had fallen asleep once he saw that Raelle had settled down enough to fall into a dreamless sleep.
"Thank you honey." Athena said, smiling politely as Kevin headed in the direction of Raelle's hospital room.
"I can't believe that poor girl had a miscarriage." April spoke up after it was silent for a couple of minutes. Athena was too much in her head as she observed the hospital. She honestly wanted to flag down a nurse immediately in order to get an update on Dominic's condition, but she wanted to lay eyes on Raelle first. She knew that she was going through so much and that she would want to hear the update on Dominic just as much as everyone else. She wouldn't dare exclude her from that. She was just as much family as everyone here. She knew how much her son loved her, and he would have wanted her included in anything they did.
"I didn't even know they were expecting." Eve said, wondering how far along Raelle was. She hadn't seen her since the last time Dom was in Virginia outside of the facetime calls she would have with her nephew. "Did you know Thena?" Eve asked, calling her by her childhood nickname. There was really never a time she used her sister's whole name. With Athena being 44, and Eve being 41 the two were extremely close. They were each other's best friend. Once Athena met April in highschool they instantly became friends making the duo a trio.
"No, I didn't know." Athena spoke quietly. She couldn't believe so much was going on with her son that she didn't know about. She knew that some drama was happening with his business which is why he insisted on having a bodyguard with her at all times, but she didn't know that things were this bad because he hid that from her. She couldn't help but find herself angry at him risking his life and everyone's around him just to sell drugs. This was a conversation that she has had with him many times. Even though she was disappointed in his life choices sometimes she still loved him with every bone in her body. It would literally kill her if something bad happened to him.
