Seokmin sighed, running a hand through his hair as he worked through yet another contract. Joshua’s mansion, though luxurious, had become more of a gilded cage. Seokmin still hated it, despite the comfort it offered. He glanced over at Seungmin, who was diligently reading at the other end of the room. His son had been homeschooled here ever since they got trapped in this twisted arrangement.
The door creaked open, and Ms. Park stepped in. Her eyes immediately darted to Seokmin, a not-so-subtle smile playing on her lips.
"Good morning, Seokmin-ssi," she purred, sidling closer to him than was necessary.
"Ms. Park," Seokmin replied curtly, not bothering to look up from his papers.
Ms. Park was undeterred. She leaned over his shoulder, pretending to glance at his work. "You’re always so busy. It’s impressive how dedicated you are… and how handsome." Her voice dripped with honeyed flirtation.
Seokmin sighed inwardly. "Thank you, but I really need to focus. Seungmin needs you." He gestured toward his son, hoping to divert her attention.
Ms. Park straightened up, only to perch on the edge of Seokmin's desk, blocking his view of the documents. "Oh, but it must be so lonely here, working all by yourself. Don’t you ever need a… distraction?"
Seokmin gave her a tight-lipped smile, trying to be polite but firm. "I appreciate the concern, Ms. Park, but I’m perfectly fine. Really."
Before Ms. Park could respond, the door flew open, and Joshua strode in, his voice booming. "Hello, Minnie!"
Seungmin looked up and smiled, but the joyful reunion was cut short as Joshua’s eyes zeroed in on the scene in front of him. Ms. Park was practically hovering over Seokmin, who looked like he would rather be anywhere else.
Joshua's expression darkened instantly. "Miss Park."
Ms. Park jumped, quickly stepping away from Seokmin as if she had been caught committing a crime—which, in a way, she had been. She turned to face Joshua, her face paling. "J-Joshua-nim… I…"
Joshua’s smile was sickeningly sweet as he tilted his head. "Tomorrow. Six o’clock. My office."
Ms. Park gulped, bowing repeatedly. "Yes, yes, of course! I’m so sorry!" She practically sprinted out of the room, not daring to look back.
As the door slammed shut, Seokmin rolled his eyes and covered Seungmin's eyes with one hand. "You know," Seokmin said with a tone laced with irritation, "you could try not scaring the kid."
Seungmin, oblivious to the tension, simply smiled and signed, "Hi," to Joshua.
Joshua smiled back at Seungmin, but as he stepped closer to Seokmin, the smile faded into a pout. His suit was splattered with blood, the dark red stains contrasting starkly against the white fabric.
Seokmin’s eyes widened, and he quickly stepped between Joshua and Seungmin. "Get the hell out of here! Don’t scare the kid! And who did you murder this time, you idiot?"
Joshua blinked, looking somewhat hurt by the accusation. "Some people. They stole our weapons, so I had to use my knife skills—"
"SHUT UP!" Seokmin shouted, cutting him off.
Joshua’s shoulders slumped as he sulked like a chastised child. "I was only trying to help," he muttered, turning to trudge up the stairs.
Seokmin watched him go, still fuming. "Try helping by not getting blood all over the carpet next time!"
Joshua paused on the staircase, looking back with a mischievous glint in his eye. "You know, Seokmin, you’re pretty hot when you’re angry."
Seokmin’s jaw dropped in disbelief. "W-What?!"
Joshua winked, then continued up the stairs, leaving Seokmin speechless and fuming.
Seungmin tugged on Seokmin’s sleeve, bringing him back to the present. The boy signed, "Is Joshua uncle okay?"
Seokmin sighed, ruffling Seungmin’s hair. " Don’t worry, Minnie."
As Joshua disappeared around the corner, Seokmin could only groan. The worst part of being trapped in this mansion wasn’t the danger or even the bloodstains—it was dealing with Joshua’s endless, infuriating antics. And, somehow, Seokmin knew this wasn't just the beginning.
