Fire wings -Ninjago (In Progress)

Chapter 11

Kai sat still on his bed, flexing his wings in and out as Zane examined them. The fire was completely back and covering the sleek waxy feathers. He was overjoyed about that as he didn’t want to lose his wings, even if they stressed him out.

“How do they look?” Kai asked Zane, “Are they healed completely?”

The nindroid nodded and backed away a bit from the flames. “Yes, there are no more breaks or fractures in the bones. However, since they are still newly mended, I do not recommend any heavy flying for a few weeks. You can try lifting yourself up slightly, but nothing more than that for a while.”

Kai frowned. “Alright. I don’t like it, but okay. As long as I can fly at some point.” He folded his wings up and hid them again. “I might have to do that tonight, because the heat builds up fast. And it is not fun when they get super hot.”

“Well, good thing Lloyd's boyfriend won’t be here all night. Lloyd said he has to take him back by three.” Zane said, “In which we should probably go out with the others. They should all be waiting in the front room.”

Kai nodded. “Right. And hopefully all the cleaning is done.”

The two stood up and left the room joining up with everyone else as they chatted in the living room.

It was lively as everyone was chatting, excited to meet Lloyd’s partner. Nobody but Nya had even a small clue the youngest of them had a partner. Girlfriend or boyfriend, so this was thrilling for them.

As Zane and Kai came out into the living room, Jay turned around to look at them. “Welcome to the conversation! Glad you could make it!" He teased.

Kai smirked as he walked to the couch and leaned over the back of it, looking Jay in the eyes. "Aww. You just missed me," he raised his eyebrows up and down in a teasing manner. Jay turned bright red and turned around. Kai saw as the red crept up Jay's cheeks before his face was away from him. Kai pretended to not notice his sister holding in her excitement.

Zane went to sit by Cole, joining in the conversation. Kai listened, but was in his own head. Life was pretty good right now. He was glad to have the confidence and felt safe enough to flirt with Jay. The secret of his wings had always haunted him in the back of his mind. He never felt it was fair to pursue a relationship or anything when his safety was his only priority due to them. But now he could, since three of his team members knew about them.

Sometimes he wondered if it was selfish of him for not telling anyone, especially Nya. For one, she was his sister. If he couldn't trust her, who could he trust. For another, his wings could come in handy in an emergency for the whole team.

But then he would weigh the possibilities. His wings would make their team a bigger target for villains. Many people would kill for something as unique and rare as him. And that made the stakes high if he told. So he never could.

Kai blinked, moving the thoughts to the back of his mind. That was a past worry now. As long as he never let anyone else or the public know, he would surely be fine.

Ethan sat under a tree, trying to keep himself calm. He was meeting Lloyd's family for the first time. So much was resting on this.

He needed Lloyd's team to like him. He didn't know what he would do if he continued to date Lloyd while everyone didn't like him.

But there was also... Nope. Not the time. Just worry about now, he'd work out the other half later. It didn't have to happen yet, or at all if he did it right.

Ethan watched the sky above his tree for Lloyd. He wanted to get this going before he completely lost his nerve.

"Ok, stop," He told himself. He closed his eyes and took deep breaths in an out, feeling himself calm down slightly. "You're going to be just fine. They won't just up and hate you."
