Fire wings -Ninjago (In Progress)

Chapter 14

Kai didn't go inside with the others. Instead, he flew as high as he felt he could, hiding just above the lowest clouds in the sky. He didn't want anyone seeing that he was panicking.

He had just exposed himself and his secret in less than five minutes. The day had been going so well. He and Jay were official after a year! Then that same boyfriend got chucked out a window less than thirty minutes later and Kai jumped out into the air to save him.

Kai turned around in the air, agitated, shouting into the sky. What if this was the start of something bigger? He and Jay had just been talking about how quiet the city was. What a coincidence something just happen to make him show his secret was that?

He shook his head wildly. Matter of fact was, he had asked Jay too early. What was the blue ninja going to think, finding out Kai had wings and never planned to tell him? He shouldn't have asked, he should've known something would go wrong soon.

Kai shouted again. This was wrong, everything was wrong. After having to out himself like that, it was only a matter of time before he was on the news and everyone knew.

He shoved his head in his hands. This was a disaster. He still had to explain everything to Jay and Nya. His sister would be especially hard to explain to. He raised her for years and she had never known.

Kai stayed in the sky, trying to calm his nerves and quiet his thoughts. The whole group was supposed to regroup to talk about Kai's secret after everyone had a second to calm down. They were all inside, but Kai didn't want to face them yet. So he stayed in the sky.

A good while passed, until Kai was approached by a black dragon with a very few green highlights rose into the sky next to him. Cole cleared his throat.

"Everyone is ready inside, if you're ready yourself?" Cole informed him.

Kai sighed. "I guess. I just- I don't know what to do. Nobody was supposed to know. And now, in less than five minutes I've exposed myself to my sister, my new boyfriend, and all on Ninjago. Not only that, now that puts me, and all of you guys in danger!"

Cole looked at Kai with pitty at his panic. "We won't be in danger, Kai. We can take care of ourselves. And we'll take care of you. Promise."

Kai nodded solemnly. "Right."

Cole gave a sympathetic chuckle. "Come on fireflame. Let's head inside."

The master of earth turned on his dragon and returned to the monastery, Kai slowly following behind him. They landed in the training yard and Kai put his wings away.

"Here, I brought you this." Cole said, tossing Kai one of the shirts from his room.

Kai caught the red shirt and put it on. "Thanks man. Now I've just gotta explain in depth once more. Or maybe not the last time. It really depends."

Cole patted Kai on the back and the two headed inside. The others were waiting in the livingroom. Jay and Nya were sitting on the couch in the middle. Lloyd sat on the recliner next to the wall and Zane stood next to the couch

Kai took a deep breath and Cole directed him to the front. Everyone held a mug of hot chocolate. Cole grabbed two extras off a tray on the table and handed one to Kai. The both of them leaned against the TV stand and took sips of their hot chocolate. Nobody seemed to know how to start the conversation.

Kai avoided eye contact with the two on the couch. Though he could feel them both glancing at him.  He instead looked at Zane and Lloyd, begging one of them to start for him. It was awkward, to say the least.

Then Nya gave an annoyed sigh. "Okay, let's stop dancing around the issue. What the fuck was that, Kai? You have wings! Explain yourself!"

Kai bit his lip, avoiding eye contact with his enraged sister. "I can't, explain. I don't know how, or why they exist."
