i finally got to start cleaning up my desk as the clock struck 4:55pm. after a long day of work, i can finally go home! the chatter in the hallways of the lab slowly died down as people more left for home. i was packing my notebook when i felt a presence at my door.

he knocked on the doorframe to make himself known. "may i speak with you? it won't take up too much of your time." my boss said with a gleeful smile on his face.

i nodded, getting up to face him. the smile on his face showed it was most likely not serious. as long as i'm not getting fired or laid off, i'm chilling.

"some good news for you! a coworker who was supposed to go on vacation next week had to back out, so she's back at work next week. you can go to your friend's wedding!"

i looked at him wide eyed. now i can go to emma's wedding?? that's exactly ONE WEEK FROM TODAY?? flight costs are gonna be insane! i don't even think i can get on the guest list? the seating plan has already been made!

"oh, thank you! i'll definitely take next week off if it isn't too much of a hassle."

he nodded and walked off to his office. i stood there too stunned to take in the new information. what am i going to do? well, obviously, i need to tell emma. then, i'm going to need to find the cheapest flight. there most likely will not be any flight available under two thousand dollars with how close the wedding date is.

i hurried home so i could see how much damage the cost of the flight would do to my wallet. but before that, i had to feed my cats and scoop my cats' litter. then i ordered myself chinese food because that one of my favourite cuisines. i <3 guy ding.

when i had enough courage, i opened my laptop and typed "flights to jeju from copenhagen" in my search bar. before pressing enter, i took a deep breath to relieve the stress i was about to experience. please, please, be somewhat okay.

i clicked enter and the first thing that popped up was google flights. i looked at the first three flights and let out a huge sigh. all over two thousand dollars.

"how am i going to feed myself for the next month if i splurge this much on a flight?" i asked myself. lino sat next to me and looked at me curiously.

"you may not be getting wet food for a few days." i told him. his eyes went a little wide as i chuckled, petting his head telling him not to worry.

suddenly, a lightbulb went off above my head. lars and his boyfriend haven't left yet! i'll see if their flight still has seats!

i got my phone and quickly went to the messages app, scrolling through the list of numbers. i found lars' not too far from the top and clicked on it. our last conversation was about potatoes at 3am two weeks ago. interesting.
