five minutes. five minutes is how long i've been driving in this parking garage trying to find a parking spot. i have searched every nook and cranny and have found nothing for my little sedan. i'm going to drive myself insane.

lars was frantically texting me asking where i was—my car obnoxiously letting me know through that annoying announcer woman—and saying he and his boyfriend, mikel, were waiting in the waiting area by the main doors. if i wasn't so focused on trying to find an empty space i could tell my car to text him.

finally, after what seemed like forever, a miracle happened on the highest floor of the parking garage: an open space! i pulled in the spot, relieved that i didn't have to stress any longer.

i turned off the ignition and made sure nothing valuable was out to lure a potential robber. the only thing i considered valuable was the lee know photocard hanging from my rearview mirror, sitting in a cute yellow duck photocard holder. i took it down as i don't want to risk leaving it here in a public space for a week. i consider it very, very valuable.

i put it in my carry-on that was sitting in the passenger seat, then picked it up, then grabbing my luggage from the trunk. the parking garage air was a little musty, but what else do you expect from a cement parking garage? there were also small puddles from the cars that drove in the snowfall that happened yesterday.

i took my big luggage from the trunk and put it on its wheels, bringing up the handle so i could drag it to the skywalk that would eventually lead to the airport. before i started walking, i updated lars on where i was and where to meet me. i would assume he's still waiting for me by the entrance.

i walked across the skywalk and finally got inside of the airport. i saw lars and mikel sitting on a bench right by the doors; mikel on his phone and lars looking at the door where i walked in, presumably watching for me. he tapped his boyfriend on the shoulder and pointed to me, a smile on his face when looking at me. both got up and walked over to me.

"aisha, i haven't seen you in so long!" lars hugged me. mikel copied his action and hugged me too.

"it's been too long! how are you two?" i asked.

"so well! now even better that i can see you again!" lars replied. i smiled at his excitement.

lars and mikel's relationship is like an orange and black cat's relationship; lars is the orange cat: outgoing and friendly. mikel is the black cat: calm and collected. both suit each other's personalities so well; it's so endearing. i was super excited the day lars told me he got a boyfriend, and the fact that he has such a great guy makes it even better.

the three of us headed to the baggage check to get our big suitcases off to the plane. the airport wasn't as busy, so we got through pretty smoothly—no complications so far. once that was done, we took our carry-on bags so we could get those checked at security.

security was a long walk away but since there was barely anyone to steer clear of, we got there faster than expected. we began the security process by taking out our big electronics from our bags, the resealable bag that had toothpaste, shampoos, etc, then taking our phones that we had in our pockets or hands in the bin.

unfortunately, during the person-scanning process, lars forgot he had change in his pocket so he had to get pat down. nothing serious, he just had five extra cents sitting in his pocket. thankfully, we were let go and able to get our belongings from the bins that weren't checked.
