Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji have been in seclusion for about two years. They were not in a hurry and they knew that they will find those who framed Wuxian. During those two years, they have learned more about their cultivation and the connection between themselves than they ever thought possible. They learned telepathy, teleportation, elemental cultivation, and so much more. Telepathy was actually a soulmate ability. Otherwise the others were what most immortals used.

Of course, each immortal has their own unique abilities. Wei Wuxian's was already given before he became immortal but it only strengthened afterwards, his use of resentful energy and the ability to see and speak to the dead. Lan Wangji could see and speak to the dead but he was the one who gave them peace. So one harbors the abilities of Yin and the other harbors the abilities of Yang. One of light, and one of dark.

Of course there was more that they had yet to discover about themselves but they knew their bond was strong. Aside from telepathy, they can tell if the other is in danger or not. They were each other's strengths but also each other's weaknesses. They knew that if one was hurt, the other would go mad with worry. Though they were immortal so they could not die, that was the cost to this life.

Being that the two have been away for two years, the world outside has of course, changed. Jiang Wanyin had repented and Baoshan gave him a chance. She gave him a new golden core but if he went out of line again, she would take it and he would lose it for good. She only did this for Wuxian's sake and so that Jin Ling had a guardian to protect him.

Currently, at the bottom of the pool, Wangji and Wuxian were having a small match. Neither using their swords, but the abilities they were given. They wanted to test out all they can do. Wangji had put his guqin, hovering in front of him. Each strum had caused an action. Strong wooden vines growing from the cracks in the platform, that grew up long and strong and covered in thorns. A strum caused a vine to make a move, sending one diving straight at Wuxian.

Wuxian smirked, he dipped his fingers into the giant wall made of water that domed around them. He then threw his hand forward and shards of ice came shooting from his fingers. So sharp that it could cut deep like a blade. The shards cut down the attacking vines and the two were at a stalemate.

"Is that all you got, My Love?" Wuxian taunted.

"This is only the beginning, Husband," Wangji replied with a sly grin.

With another strum of the guqin, large boulders protruded from the ground. Wangji twirled and with a flick of his hand over the strings, a huge sound wave came out, shattering each boulder and sending them right into wuxian's direction.

Wuxian, at the last second, managed to use his energy to catch everything and keep it from hitting him. He held his arms wide open, but the more stone that was added to his grasp, the harder it was to hold. It was heavy. In a split second, Wuxian fell to the ground and made a shield to protect himself. The stones flew outside the water barrier, missing him in the end.

Wuxian sat up panting and held his hands up in surrender, "okay, you win, I surrender," he said.

Wangji put his guqin away and walked over to Wuxian's side. He knelt down, "are you alright?" He asked.

"It seems I still lack strength even as an immortal," Wuxian replied.

"Wei Ying, we both have our strengths and weaknesses. You may not be as strong as me, but you are faster and more agile. You have speed, while I have strength," Wangji told him, "don't discourage yourself over what you lack."

Wuxian sighed and nodded, "that was a good session today," he said, "what do you think?"

"Mnn, I think it was a bit unfair that I used my guqin and you didn't use Chenqing," Wangji told him.

"I wanted to fight without it," Wuxian said, "you can do amazing things with Wangji, (his guqin is named Wangji), I wanted to see what I could do against it."

"So when will you practice with Chenqing?" Wangji asked.

"Chenqing is a ghost flute," Wuxian answered, "I think if I use it, it will taint any element I summon. I don't know how much more powerful that would be."

"You are afraid to try?" Wangji asked.

"Nothing happened to me before because I didn't have a golden core. I was only provoked if someone angered me. Otherwise I thought I was in full control. Now that I'm immortal, I do not know how that control works. I was afraid when I first learned it, and it feels like I have to learn it all over again," Wuxian explained.

Wangji sighed and pulled Wuxian to stand up with him, "as I am a master of Yang, I believe I am what balances you out. I believe I am what helps you stay in control," he told him.

Wuxian nodded, "I know, but I'm just not sure if I am ready to try to use it again...the last time I used it...I watched a lot of people die...including my Shijie."

Wangji pulled him into a hug and placed a kiss on his cheek, "You have a right to mourn. Whenever you are ready, I will be here beside you, always."

Wuxian pulled his head back to look at him, "I love you, so much," he said.

Wangji smiled and rested his forehead to Wuxian's, "I love you too."

In that moment, their lips became magnets. No matter what is said, the two know that they had each other in the end. Wuxian was afraid, but he had a reason to be. Wangji was his comfort. He will not let Wuxian feel alone and unsafe. This kiss was like a declaration, a promise. A kiss that sealed their fate, and their promise to always have their backs, will always remain. Their love was endless. They had a goal and they didn't want anyone to get in their way in getting there. Wuxian would overcome this obstacle, but he just didn't know how yet.
