*Xavia's POV*

Saying Grace's name was a whole different level from merely gazing into her gorgeous green eyes.

I felt...

Addicted to this angel standing before me.

It confused me...

Why am I so connected with her?

My biggest problem was how much she truly affected me.

I've had one or two dates in my life, but every encounter was just lust. It wasn't about attraction, love, or anything else remotely resembling the passion I felt for her. Plain and simple. A means to an end. However... with Grace... it was...

More.

More in every sense of the word.

I wanted her completely, desired her wholly, but we were strangers. We merely exchanged a few words here... A few glances there...

As Grace eventually pulled away from me, I sensed she didn't want to go. I wouldn't admit it to Raziel yet; seeing her walk away made me feel like a love-sick puppy.

When Grace reached Aubrey's office, I couldn't help but listen in.

Her boss was clearly speaking about me and the angel, "Are you two okay? Did something happen?"

"Huh?" Grace replied, confused.

"You and your dream girl were staring at each other, silent, for several minutes. People were trying to get your attention, and it was as if you couldn't hear them. I mean, shit, Grace, I've never had to call your name more than once before you acknowledged me..." The angel's friend paused and then sincerely asked, "Are you okay? What was that?"

Yeah, I'd like to know the answer, too.

Wait a minute...

Eventually, it dawned on me...

I was the dream girl they were referring to the other day. I remember when she said she would sacrifice her life for my happiness. Did she already know who I was before I rose to Earth; did she have these feelings about me this whole time?

Everything was getting more confusing by the minute; however, I decided to calm my rampant thoughts and questions. Instead, I would focus on their conversation and see what comes of it. I needed more; I wanted proof, too. It was very possible the angel would provide that information while speaking to her friend.

"It's... complicated," Grace replied.

I mentally frowned and sighed.

"Sticking with that one again, are you?" Her friend asked with a sigh, and it was evident from her response that she was clearly not okay with the angel's answer.

"As annoying as my answer is, I'm telling you the truth... it is actually complicated," She replied, took a deep breath, and added, "I wouldn't lie to you."

A few seconds passed before Aubrey spoke again, "But you don't tell me everything, either, Grace."

I knew that comment from her friend to be accurate; beings like ourselves are told to hide, that the humans wouldn't understand, and they'd fear us. I didn't have to have special powers to know those words hurt Grace, but I still sensed her discomfort. It made me want to hug her.

Suddenly, I heard the door being closed, and it was locked. Then, the blinds to the window were shut rather hastily, and I assumed that had to be the angel's doing.

Then, with a more determined tone in her voice, Grace said, "I'll tell you everything if you're sure this is what you want and are ready for it."

Holy shit... is she really going to reveal her true identity?
