*Grace's POV*
"Love... y-you..." Xavia muttered right before she suddenly passed out cold.
My mate's body went completely limp, her eyes closed as if she were slipping away. Panic surged through me, and my heart pounded in my chest.
"No, no, no," I whispered frantically, pressing my hands over her wound.
I called upon my healing powers, pouring every ounce of energy I had left into her, but my power was waning. The toll of everything I had done so far was catching up to me, and I needed to rest, but I couldn't afford to stop now. "Stay with me, Xavia," I pleaded, my voice cracking. "You can't leave me. I need you. I was only created for you. I'll search the heavens, literally, for a cure."
My hands glowed with a diminishing light as I tried to keep her awake. Her eyelids fluttered, and I could feel her slipping in and out of consciousness. Xavia tried to speak, but all that came out was a weak cough. Her hand moved slowly, tapping her chest right above her heart.
I realized what she was trying to say and responded with tears in my eyes, "I love you too. We need to go now. I'm sorry if I cause you any discomfort."
I turned to Aubrey, "Rey, jump on my back and hold tight. I need both hands to carry Xavia."
As I carefully lifted Xavia in my arms, her head turned slowly, her eyes meeting Aubrey's sad, worried gaze. Aubrey placed a comforting hand on the side of Xavia's face, and the moment's tenderness made my throat tighten with emotion. Xavia's eyes shifted from Aubrey to me, and she didn't look away. My mate's eyes, though heavy, remained locked onto me.
"Is everyone ready?" I asked.
My voice was firm despite the tears threatening to spill over. In my mind, I heard Xavia's faint, mental whisper, "Y-you... can do it, baby..."
I took a deep breath, closing my eyes to focus all my Heavenly might and willpower. "I need to return to the Heavens. I need to save the love of my life. We bring no malice, only light, love, and hope. Please, open the gate, let the ether flow between us all, and allow me and my family safe passage."
My aura pulsed around me, an unnatural wind blowing like crazy. Then, a bright white-golden beam of light descended right before everyone in the room. I took a step forward, feeling the energy surrounding us.
Before we ascended, I turned to the doctor and said, "Thank you, Dr. Maddox Roxas, for your help. I will never forget the lengths you went today."
With that, I stepped into the beam of light, carrying Xavia and feeling the weight of our journey ahead.
The beam fully enveloped us, its radiant warmth seeping into our very souls, soothing and energizing us simultaneously. Aubrey gasped, and Raziel hummed in awe. I looked at Xavia, and she smiled weakly at me; her eyes told me one thing—she was proud of me. While we climbed through the brilliant beam of light, the world around us transformed into a cascade of iridescent colors and bright energy.
Stars and celestial bodies zipped past in a blur of luminescence, creating a breathtaking, almost surreal tapestry of cosmic wonder. I could feel the vibrations of the Heavenly music harmonizing with the rhythmic pulse of the light. The ethereal glow intensified as we rose, the light becoming almost tangible, like we were gliding through liquid gold—guiding us toward the celestial gates.
During our travels, I kept using my healing powers, sharing my energy with Xavia to keep her awake. Each time she faltered, I poured more of myself into her, but I could feel my own strength declining. I needed to rest, and I would once she was safe. When we finally arrived at the highest point of the heavens, armored security angels—both men and women—came rushing towards us, though they were still several feet away.
