*Grace's POV*

"So, Xavia..." I paused after saying my mate's name aloud to her for the first time. When her eyes locked onto mine, I continued my thought, "Do you believe in Destiny?"

Instantly, her mouth became slightly agape, evidently shocked at my specific choice of words. She looked lost in thought or possibly conversing with herself if I didn't know any better. I knew mentioning her name would tell her that I already knew who she was, and I had hoped that would help lessen any worries she might have had. Xavia's eyes held so many emotions, and I quickly got lost in them. However, there was something I wanted to do, and my body reacted before the thought had actually passed my mind.

With the same smile on my face, I lifted my hand and softly placed it under Xavia's chin, closing it for her. My action finally caused her to speak up as she asked, "You know who I am?"

"I know a lot, yes, but... I don't believe I know everything," I replied honestly, and Xavia struggled with that; her mouth opened and shut again.

I could tell she was still unsure about the turn of events, and I had hoped she'd express herself so I could better help her understand. With a deep breath, my mate began to speak again, "And you still came out here, with me, alone?"

"Yes," I stated confidently, "I would do it all over again and change nothing nor my decision."

Xavia's expression was full of confusion as she said, "I have so many questions, Grace..."

"I know, and I think I have those answers for you... if I may... I would love to tell you the reason I asked you out?" I returned, hoping she'd be okay with that.

Her quick nod was apprehensive yet very eager, making my smile widen. Our eyes remained locked as I spoke, "You hear the stories, read the legends, but... you and I... we are the real deal. We are meant for each other, Xavia... I'm your mate, and... you... you are mine."

Something within her eyes clicked upon my words, and I stayed silent. I knew she'd accept everything I said as well as what we are, but... just revealing what we are to each other was powerful enough, and... I didn't want to overstress her, either. So, I kept still, observing her, waiting patiently to see what she'd do or say next.

Suddenly, her skin was slightly rippling, and I broke eye contact to watch it happen a few more times. It was as if her body was fighting to change, her true side wanting to reveal itself to me. When I looked back up to meet Xavia's eyes, I noticed they were shut tightly. She's really trying to control everything right now, and I can feel her struggle. I want her to be okay and know she can be who she truly is around me. Nothing will change how I think of her.

I love her so much already.

With a whisper, Xavia asked, "How are you sure?"

All of this makes sense to me, and I know what my beautiful mate needs from me right now: reassurance.

I leaned closer to my woman, raised my hands, and softly placed them on either side of her gorgeous face. I couldn't stop my thumbs from tenderly grazing her cheeks. Her bone structure was pristine and perfect, and she defied the very Gods with how flawless it was. With a reassuring and loving tone, I gave her my word, "Open your eyes, Xavia... you can trust me. Nothing will scare me away from you... I promise."

At my words, Xavia visibly relaxed and took a small breath. As she opened her eyes, revealing those pure black demonic voids, I got lost, staring into them. They were so full of life, hope, and so much longing that it took everything I had not to lean closer and kiss her. The smile etched on my face was one born of pure happiness. It would seem my action didn't go unnoticed by my mate as she said, "You're still here... you're not running, and.... you're smiling at me... You're happy?"
