*Grace's POV*
A week had passed, and once again, I awoke with a start. The same vision that had plagued me daily jolted me from my sleep. The remnants of the realistic dream lingered in my mind, overlaying my actual surroundings. Xavia's arms were wrapped around me, her warmth and presence a comforting anchor, yet the vision was vivid before me, replaying again.
We are out in the city, spending time with Raziel and Aubrey as a family—my family. Everything was perfect until it wasn't. A demonic presence emerged from Hell, riding a white horse, wreaking devastation miles away, decaying the world—everything around him. After coming up with a plan, an arrow flew through the air, heading straight for Xavia's chest. My hand reached out for her in desperation, but the arrow pierced her heart. I never made it in time, and I didn't save her from the torment she'd go through because of it...
Then, the vision ended.
I gasped for breath, my heart racing, completely pulling me back to reality.
Beside me, Xavia stirred, her concern evident in her eyes.
"I'm okay, I promise," I managed to say, steadying my voice.
"A week now, you've had that vision... Everything you've ever seen has come to pass, but this one hasn't happened yet... I'm getting worried," Xavia replied, her worry etched deeply on her beautiful face.
"Believe me, I am beyond worried; I see the arrow coming for you. I'm fucking terrified. I know it can't technically kill you... but... It can severely hurt you in ways we don't even know... I can't take that chance... there has to be a reason why the arrow is specifically targeting you. This is why we've been training. You've been teaching and helping me, and... I will always do everything in my power to keep us both alive." I stated with firm resolve.
Xavia quickly responded by holding me tightly and planting a soft kiss against my lips. When we parted, my beautiful mate said, "Shall I cook us something to eat, and then we can meet with Aubrey? I know she's excited to finally go out on the town together."
I laughed, feeling tension from the vision ease, "Yeah, I'd love that. I'll shower really quick if that's okay."
"It's always okay," she said with a gentle smile.
I kissed her lips before getting up and heading into the shower. Once inside, I let the hot water wash away the lingering fear from the vision. I let my mind wander while I enjoyed my time cleaning and refreshing my body.
I couldn't resist the allure of Xavia's blood that day; its divine taste sent a rush of euphoria through me. After that intense and very sexual moment, Xavia gathered us and revealed information that caught me off guard—Aubrey and Raziel hung onto every word. Xavia then delved into the intricacies of our new Nephalem existence, explaining what it meant for us. She mentioned that God was still deciphering more details but clarified that I held her heart. This bond meant we would share each other's pain, though muted, and that I wielded the power for both of us.
If I died, so would we both.
This acknowledgment ignited our resolve to strengthen ourselves for the sake of our survival and humanity's protection. Every day, Xavia pushed me to my limits with rigorous hand-to-hand combat training, utilizing my Nephalem form and mastering various weapons. The sweat-soaked sessions were relentless, each strike and block sharpening my focus and control over my power. Hours blurred together as we honed our skills, our determination unyielding against the looming threats. With every breath, I felt the weight of our bond and the power coursing through me, driving me to become stronger for both of us.
