*Grace's POV*
As soon as we parted from our embrace, God said, "The last time I received a genuine hug like that was the day of Azriel's death. She made me promise to take care of her daughter and help whenever she asked for it. That was very kind of you, Grace." I swear I could hear a break in his voice, but if it was there, he hid it very well. "Here..." He added, raising his hand, focusing his power, "Let me open a portal for you; all you need to do is walk through it."
"Thank you. I will do everything in my power to make The Prophecy come to pass; I won't let the world down... I give you my word," I said, walking toward the circular portal. My father's last verbal words to me were utterly promising, making me smile.
"Good luck, my child; I have the utmost faith in you. Remember where and who you come from, and above all else... Follow your heart; it will always guide you in the right direction."
As I passed through the magical doorway, my body felt like it turned to particles, slowly making its way to Earth, yet it all happened so fast. During the trip, I was fortunate enough to hear God's voice in my head, and I was pretty sure that was possible because I was still in his portal. "I've bestowed upon you the entire universe's history from the dawn of its creation. That includes everything from Heaven and Hell as well. It will benefit you on this journey... You are about to be thrust into a new world; it will be hard, but you have everything you need at your disposal."
I can do this. I know I can.
Then, I heard my father's voice again, "When you find a safe place, you have to prepare yourself. Learn how to use your wings and how to hide them. Figure out your powers, abilities, and any possible transformations we have yet to be aware of. You must learn how to control them. However, before all that, you need to find the box Azriel left for you. I know it'll guide and help you while on Earth. When the time is right, tell Xavia the truth. You'll know what to say and when to say it. After that, everything will fall into place."
My body instantly shivered upon hearing Xavia's name again... Azriel... her mom's name—was as lovely as my mate's.
The gateway closed behind me the second I was entirely through, and the sight before me was beautiful. Without knowing for sure, I determined it was nearing twilight. The light indigo color and sliver of orange near the coastline told me the sun had already set; the moon had yet to rise. Only a few stars were beginning to shine in the upcoming night sky. It was a captivating place, full of vibrant colors, and I couldn't wait to see more.
I felt the cool breeze of the evening, the smell of the vast trees surrounding me, sirens, car alarms, street lights, people talking, fighting, crying, laughing, and music playing... The energy in this world was so vivid and constant. Some of it was somewhat comforting, but the rest, for me at least, was a bit too much. With the distance at which I could pick up the smallest of sounds and how far my eyes could see... I knew I needed to get a grip on my inhuman abilities sooner rather than later.
With my mind made up, I sat on a soft patch of grass and focused my energy. If I can sense people as well as the good and evil in them, the same should go for angelic and demonic essences. Azriel left something for me, and I can track it; I only need to focus on that. After a few seconds, I felt something within my heart telling me where to go.
"There you are..." I muttered softly to myself, looking off in the direction of where I needed to go, "Now, how to get to you?"
The fastest and most efficient way to reach the location was to fly. So I got to my feet and walked until I found a safe place to practice emerging my wings. Finding a very tall, broken, and abandoned church didn't take too long. That spot was as good as any, but I wanted to get to the highest point of the steeple. I stretched my body and leaped into the air a little higher than I expected but soon grappled the tower's ledge, lifting myself onto it.
