*Xavia's POV*

I held Grace close, feeling the familiar warmth of her body meld with mine. Slowly, the new energy within us faded, and we returned to our human forms, our breaths syncing with a beautiful rhythm. I looked into her eyes as a soft smile played on my lips.

With my voice laced with an unspoken promise, I whispered, "I want you."

Grace looked up at me, her cheeks blooming with a knowing blush.

My mate's voice was as soft as her caresses as she replied, "And I want you, Xavia."

"Is it wrong to have this need to feel your most intimate parts, to taste you, to bring you to the brink and make you come undone as much as I want to do?" I asked, my voice trembling with desire.

My mate's eyes darkened.

"How can it be wrong when I want the same thing?" Grace responded, looking deep into my eyes, adding, "Our happiness, pleasure, life, and afterlife are tied together, woven, predicted, and promised. It's up to us to ensure we follow our hearts. No matter what, my heart belongs to you, just as yours is mine."

I bit my lip, unable to hold back any longer.

I want her now.

I was glad we were still in the nude.

Leaning in, I kissed her passionately, our lips melding; tongues battled in fervent dance—one as old as time.

I needed her now; nothing else mattered.

My leg parted hers, and I lowered my hand, rubbing her clit. Grace's legs grew weak, and I held her protectively, whispering in her mind, "I got you, baby."

My mate moaned, continuing to make out with me, our bodies entwined in a moment of pure ecstasy. I pulled my hand out, sucking off her juices from my fingers. Grace looked at me with a lustful gaze, and just as I went to return my hand to her, I smelled Raziel approaching. I growled menacingly at the thought of him seeing my mate completely nude.

In almost a second, I phased into my shadow form, blending both of us into the shadows with her in my arms.

"Love, what is it? Is everything okay?" Grace mentally asked, suddenly worried.

I then just realized I had never taken another person into my shadow form like this.

Was it always possible, or was it because we were mates?

Either way, I was glad it worked.

"Everything is fine; I'm sorry if that growl scared you... It was... territorial..." I stated, answering her.

"Territorial? But... we're alon—" Grace cut herself off as she saw Raziel slither inside our home. Resuming what she was saying, she added, "You getting territorial is actually really cute, you know?"

I shook my head with a smirk.

Without waiting for another second, I took us to the bedroom, phasing back into our human forms. We quickly got dressed as we heard Raziel say, "Xavia? Grace? Something's different, but I know you are both in the room. I'll wait out here for you."

"Do you think our mate bond allowed you to join my body with yours when you shifted into your shadow form?" Grace asked, clearly thinking the same thing I had previously done not moments ago.

"I was thinking that was the case, yes," I replied.

"It was really cool to do that with you," Grace said, a hint of excitement in her voice.
