*Xavia's POV*

I almost moaned as I practically shoveled the food into my starving stomach. The breakfast Aubrey cooked was delicious, and I enjoyed our time together—like a family. A family that I never honestly had, and... it made me feel whole. I knew Grace was the biggest reason I felt that way, but... I knew Aubrey and Raziel were as important as my mate. Just as we were piling all our plates to be set aside for washing, I gave Grace a chaste kiss as she was petting Raziel.

Then, she informed me that she wanted to take a shower.

Since I woke up with the angel in my arms, I can't get the thought of doing something for my mate—something special. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I should do, but...

I know I want it to be romantic.

As soon as Grace was out of sight and the bedroom door was closed, I knew it was time to initiate my plan. With that, I stood up and went behind Aubrey, who started washing the dishes and tapped her shoulder.

She jumped, clutching her chest, "Oh, shit! What the hell? You don't have to scare me!"

I chuckled but felt a little bad.

Just a little.

"I am sorry, Aubrey, that wasn't my intention, but... could you help me with something today?" I asked.

"And what might I be able to help you with, hot stuff?" Aubrey replied with a question of her own.

"I want to do a romantic gesture for Grace... Something nice, small—just the two of us. I've only had a couple of dates in my entire existence, and I don't exactly know what to do here on Earth, especially with such short notice... Can you help me, please?"

With a smirk, Aubrey responded gleefully, "I thought you'd never ask! Of course, I'll be honored to help you."

The smile I wore couldn't be helped.

"So... what do we do first?" I then asked Grace's best friend.

"First, I finish these last couple of dishes, and that will actually give me some time to think about it, you know?" Aubrey commented, and I nodded, noticing that she was almost done.

"Would you like any help?" I asked.

"Nah, I got this, I'm done, honestly..." She paused, turned off the faucet, dried her hands on the nearest hand towel, and faced me. "Okay, I've got a perfect idea. After we ensure Gracie stays in the room, you, Xavia, will take a quick shower in my room; the bathroom is connected; you'll see it as it's similar to the one you two have..."

I kept my eyes on Aubrey.

I watched as she went to the counter and rummaged through a drawer; she was clearly searching for something.

When she found whatever she was looking for, she called for Raziel, who went beside her. She looked at my friend with candles in her hand and addressed him, "Raz, you'll turn into that monkey form and start placing these candles everywhere. Make sure the kitchen table has the taller ones, okay?"

As she finished speaking to him, I heard the shower faucet turn off, which meant only one thing.

My mate had finished showering.

Shit, she's going to hear everything...

I spoke up, whispering, "Aubrey, she's out of the shower. Just keep your voice low, and I can only hope she won't listen in."

With a swift nod, Aubrey continued in a whisper, "While you're showering, Xavia, I'll go pick up two steak dinners and make sure it's a rushed order so it's ready as soon as possible. When I come back, I'll find you something to wear."
