After Harper showered and changed she made her way to Peter's room knocking before entering. He smiles at her.
"Hi" "Hi" She says amused. They lay on the bed, this time Harper on Peter's lap.
"I want to marry you" Peter says and Harper hums.
"Yeah?"
"I was going to propose the night we went back"
"I would have said yes" She admits and he nods.
"I know," She snorted, hitting his chest. "Liar" "I was so terrified that you only saw me as your best friend" She rolls her eyes.
"You are an idiot" "I know" He laughs and it's quiet for a moment.
"I would have said yes then and I would have said yes now" he smiles.
"Well in that case, Harper Eleina Harow when we turn eighteen will you marry me?" "Nah" His face falls and she lets out a laugh.
"Of course I will you idiot." She sits up and holds his face in between her hands, kissing him softly. He pulls her closer with his spare hand on the back of her head and the other on her waist.
"I love you" She whispers into the kiss and that makes Peter kiss her harder and more passionately. He adjusts them so he's leaning over her hands on the side of the bed holding him up which proved to be quite difficult as she was trying to pull him closer by pulling him by his neck as she started playing with his hair.
"If I can spend my whole life with you I will die a happy man" Peter says pulling away. "And I will be a happy woman" he smiles, kissing her nose and laying on his back pulling her close to him.
She wraps her arms around his waist and he holds her tighter. "Can you tell me about her?" "Who?" Harper asks. "You're mom" Harper looks up at him.
"She was beautiful, not the normal kind. The kind when you walked down the street and saw her smile you would do a double take at how amazing she looked. I've never seen a single person have so much happiness in them. We used to take day trips to my grandparents and ride horses and play in the water for hours" Harper laughs at the memories.
"She was so kind and caring, always helping the needy. Even when we found out she had cancer she was still so full of life" Harper breathes out a deep breath. Peter grabs her hand, giving it a light squeeze.
"We spent the first year at the hospital doing tests. I dropped out of school and dad worked all day almost everyday to pay for bills. Then a miracle happened and the cancer was gone. The doctors had no explanation but we didn't care. I went back to school and dad stopped working so much. Then one day we were walking down the beach just me and mom when she fell and stopped breathing. I found someone and we got her to the hospital in time"
Harper stops talking for a moment. "You don't have too" Peter says and she shakes her head giving him an i'm ok smile.
"I need to get this out" He nods and she prepares.
"Three weeks she was in there, I was right by her side watching my mother slowly slip away. Her skin was changing to sickly pale and she was getting extremely skinny. She was dead even when she was breathing" Harper clears her throat blinking.
"Then one morning I was watching her when she stopped breathing. No heartbeat, nothing. She died and I-I was so mad at her, I didn't want her to leave me a-and she did" Peter pulls her closer.
"It got worse after she died. Dad started drinking. Got fired from his job. I ended up dropping out of school for the second time and getting two jobs. One of the jobs I kept the money hidden in my room for I would have enough money when I was going to run. When I came home one day my dad found out I had hidden it and-that was the worst he's ever been. Broken rib, scar right here on my cheek, broken wrist, and lots of bruises. That's when I decided to run and that's how I got here. Almost got hit by a car running away"
Peter looks down at her with tears in his eyes.
"Can I tell you something I've never told anyone?" "Of course" "I-I wasn't just running away" Peter stares at her confused.
"I wanted the car to hit me" his breath hitches and throat goes dry.
"Y-you don't feel that way anymore, d-do you?" He asks heartbroken for Harper.
"No of course not" She sits up quickly grabbing his hand. "I have you, I don't need to feel that way anymore. I admit I had felt that way a lot over the years "
"Why didn't.." She knows what he is going to say even though he didn't.
"Because my love you would have died as well" His face softens and he grabs her by the waist hugging her tightly.
"I never want you to feel that way again" "I won't" He simply hugs her tighter. "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you, I wasn't there to protect you"
"You're here now" She reassures him crossing her legs, and he swallows thickly.
"I used to randomly feel pains in my wrist or legs over the last year. I went to the doctor about it and they said there was nothing wrong, was that you?" Harper swallows thickly and rolls up her sleeve somewhat shaky.
Peter breathes in deeply. Looking down at her wrists there were cuts lined up and down. "I just wanted to feel something" She admits whispering.
He glances at her before leaning down and pressing a soft kiss to every single cut. "I'm never leaving your side again" He says, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
"What if I need to use the loo?" She asks, trying to lighten the mood. He smiles softly, grabbing her hand and kissing it. "I'll wait outside"
"What if I have to get dressed?" His lips raise. "I don't have to wait outside for that" He smirks and she gapes at him before grabbing a pillow and smacking him over the head.
"Jerk" He snickers and grabs her arm pulling her closer with a more serious look on his face. "I will do anything for you Harp, anything"
"And I would as well, my king" She adds. He stares at her for a moment before leaning in and kissing her.
"I love you more than anything in the entire world" She says in between kisses. "More than your bed?" She jokingly thinks about it for a moment. "No, not more than my bed, though you're a close second"
"I'll take it" He smiles.
She leans forward, leaning her head against his, closing her eyes.
"I love you" "And I love you" He says, still rubbing her wrist in a comforting way. The two fall asleep in each other's arms feeling happier than they have in a long time.
