Hyunjin and Felix sat on the couch, the soft glow of the TV casting flickering shadows on the walls.

They had settled into a cocoon of shared silence, trying to lose themselves in the mindless escapism of the movie playing before them.

Hyunjin's arm was draped around Felix, and for a moment, everything seemed as though it was going to be okay.

But then, as if the silence had grown too heavy to bear, Felix broke it. His voice was a whisper, but the words cut through the air with sharp precision.

“I think we should get a divorce.”

Hyunjin’s eyes widened in shock, and he pulled away slightly, turning to face Felix. “What are you talking about? Why would you say that?”

Felix didn’t answer immediately. He kept his gaze fixed on the screen, the flickering light reflecting in his eyes but not reaching his expression.

Hyunjin’s heart raced as he searched Felix’s face for any clue as to what had brought on this sudden declaration.

“Felix,” Hyunjin said, trying to keep his voice steady despite the turmoil inside him. “Please, just tell me why.”

Felix remained silent. The minutes stretched painfully long, each second heavy with unsaid words. Hyunjin’s frustration grew, and he tried to provoke a reaction, pushing against the wall of silence.

“Are you just going to ignore me? You can’t just drop this bombshell and not explain. What’s going on?”

Felix finally turned to face him, his eyes dark and weary. “We’re hurting each other, Hyunjin.”

Hyunjin’s chest tightened. “How? How are we hurting each other?”

Felix took a shaky breath, the weight of his emotions visible. “My life is a mess right now. It’s a constant source of chaos, and it’s affecting you too. You’re too good for me. I can’t keep dragging you down with me.”

Hyunjin’s voice cracked, desperation seeping through his words. “Is that what you think? That you’re ruining my life? I don’t believe that! I need you, Felix. I need you in my life.”

Felix’s face hardened, his eyes filled with a sadness that Hyunjin had never seen before. “You went to meet Jun Seo. Why did you have to interfere? What do you think i would have feel if you would have gotten hurt?”

Hyunjin’s heart shattered at the accusation. “I did that because I love you! I did it because I want to understand everything that’s going on, to help you, to fix things between us. I can’t just sit back and watch you suffer.”

Felix’s resolve seemed to waver, but he shook his head. “I’m already packed, Hyunjin. Jisung is coming to pick me up in an hour. I’ve made up my mind.”

Hyunjin’s world tilted, and he felt the floor give way beneath him. His voice broke into a cry, a raw and desperate sound. “No! Felix, please don’t leave. I love you. I need you. I can’t live without you. I’ll do anything, anything to make this work. Just don’t go.”

Felix looked away, tears pooling in his eyes. “I can’t stay. I’m too much of a mess, and you’re too good for me. It’s not fair to you.”

Hyunjin grabbed Felix’s shoulders, trying to anchor him. “Please, don’t leave. We can fix this. We can get through this together. Don’t walk away from us. I need you, Felix. I need you more than anything.”

Felix’s face crumpled, the walls he had built around himself cracking. He looked at Hyunjin with a pained expression, as if seeing him for the first time through a haze of tears.

“I’m sorry, Hyunjin,” Felix said, his voice trembling. “I’m so sorry. But I can’t stay.”

As the sound of a car approaching outside grew louder, Hyunjin’s cries became more frantic. He tried to hold onto Felix, his grip becoming a lifeline in the storm of emotions that was crashing around them.

Felix’s resolve was unwavering, though his heart was clearly breaking. With one last, lingering look, he slipped out of Hyunjin’s grasp, heading towards the door. Hyunjin’s sobs echoed through the empty room, the pain of impending separation searing into his soul.

The door closed behind Felix with a final, heartbreaking click, and Hyunjin was left alone, the quiet of the room now filled with the hollow ache of loss.
