The Twenty-First

Everyone was looking at the newspaper that Sir Jock was holding. "What!? you mean you've met Vettel!?" Michael gasped, brows furrowed as he mentioned the powerful ravenette. "That's right. Before we came to Sky Valley in Ghostia Town." Jin explained. "He's a huge jerk." Seven scoffed. "I can vouch for him." Twilight chuckled, petting Angel who purred at her touch.

"He was powerful! No wonder you weren't able to beat him!" The redhead stated, the brunette glaring at the ground. "But that's not all, he was handing out the seed of the Aoubist to all racers that lost!" The shorter of the two added, Michael looking up from the ground in shock. "Did you just say... the seed of Auobyss?" He asked softly, unnerved.

"Vettel was handing out the seed of Auobyss to all racers who lost to him," Jin spoke, hands making different gestures as he did. "The seed of Auobyss?" Michael questioned, eyes wide."Could that be what it was?" His younger brother Robin questioned quietly. "You didn't take it, did you?" Laura asked, worried. "I didn't." The brunette shook his head immediately. "It would be foolish to believe that someone as sophisticated as Michael would take such a cursed object." Seven scoffed, crossing her arms.

FLASHBACK...

"Death scythe!" Flashback Vettel formed X with his monsword and his partner Rarrken wasted no time firing black scythes into Leo's cart front wheel making the lion monster crash into the nearby wall. "Leo!" Michael screamed, concerned for his monster's health. He ran to the light blue monster, scooping him up into his arms and holding him close. "Are you alright?" He asked softly, brows furrowed.

As he worried over his monster a small glass bottle with a cork was tossed next to Michael, the teenager staring at it as his opponent spoke, standing before him. "If you take the seed you'll be much stronger than you are now," Vettel stated as the boy glared at him, eyes narrowed. "If it can hurt my monster, I won't take it." The brunette snapped, enraged as he stood up with Leo in his arms and the bottle in his hand. He threw it to the ground, storming off angrily.

FLASHBACK END...

"I had a bad feeling about taking it," Michael explained. "That's the Michael we know!" Jin exclaimed, jumping up and hugging his old friend. Without his knowledge, he was making Twilight (not-)slightly jealous of Jin. "Of all people you could be jealous of, it's really that dumbass?" Nightmare hit her shoulder. Being the eldest in the trio, she could immediately see through her comrades. "And don't laugh, you'll blow it." She whispered to Seven who immediately held her breath.

Silver stared at the murmuring bodyguards, wondering why they kept glancing at Michael and Jin. He assumed that they were talking about how ugly Jin looked, maybe about how weird the redhead seemed, clinging onto his rival. He shrugged it off, Crowsader pecking his head in annoyance as he moved his shoulders. Crowsader's got ✨ATTITUDE✨

"So what's the story behind that seed?" Michael asked, prying Jin off him. "Monsters under its influence become stronger with its dark power and if they continue to use it.." Jin started explaining. "It harms monsters and their racers, making them disobedient and uncooperative." Silver added on, arm wrapped around Sena's shoulders. "They can hurt themselves, other monsters, and people." Twilight continued, turning to her comrades "It may give them lots of power, but..." Nightmare trailed off. "It can kill them." Seven finished, her voice a whisper as she spoke.

"It sounds dangerous... We must put a stop to it." The blue-eyed male declared, standing.

Later that day, they were all standing where the opening of the Wind Cup would be announced. "Now it's time for the Wind Cup! Where champion racers from all over gather here to battle against one another! Let the games begin!" The female commentator announced, the crowd cheering. Everyone was excited to watch the upcoming races.
