Y/N had spent several days on Flower Fruit Mountain, growing more attached to its vibrant and lively inhabitants than she had anticipated. The baby monkeys, in particular, had captured her heart with their playful antics and wide-eyed curiosity. Every morning, she found herself drawn to their innocent faces and infectious energy, holding them close and listening to their soft coos. But as much as she loved her time there, duty called her back to the Celestial Realm. As the day of her departure arrived, Sun Wukong was not pleased. He pouted and followed her around the mountain, trying to convince her to stay just a little longer. "Come on, Y/N, you don't have to leave just yet. The baby monkeys will miss you," he pleaded, his golden eyes wide with hope.
Y/N smiled warmly at him but shook her head. "I have responsibilities I can't ignore, Wukong. I promise I'll visit again soon."
"Promise?" he asked, his voice tinged with a childlike yearning.
"Promise," she confirmed with a soft laugh, gently patting his head.
Despite her assurances, Wukong continued to sulk as she began her journey back. He watched her form grow smaller in the distance, a strange feeling of emptiness creeping into his heart. Macaque, who had been observing quietly from the shadows, approached his friend and placed a hand on his shoulder. "She'll come back, Wukong. Besides, it's not like you to get so worked up over a Goddess."
Wukong sighed, knowing Macaque was right, but the thought of Y/N not being around tugged at him more than he expected. "I just don't like being away from her," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.

The Celestial Realm welcomed Y/N back with its usual serene atmosphere. The moment her feet touched the ground, she felt the calmness of her surroundings seep into her, a stark contrast to the chaotic energy of Flower Fruit Mountain. She started walking towards the garden, her favorite place to unwind, where the tranquil sounds of the trickling streams and the rustling leaves always put her at ease.
However, her peace was short-lived. As she neared the entrance to the garden, a tall, imposing figure blocked her path. It was Erlang Shen, the fearsome god known for his unwavering sense of duty and unparalleled combat skills. His third eye, which rested in the middle of his forehead, seemed to pierce through her, scrutinizing her every move.
"Y/N," he said, his voice firm and authoritative. "What were you doing on that mountain with those monkeys?"
She looked up at him, unflinching. "I wanted to see for myself if they were as horrendous as everyone claims," she replied calmly, folding her arms across her chest.
Erlang Shen's frown deepened. "You shouldn't wander off with enemies. They're dangerous, unpredictable." He reached out and grabbed her wrist, his grip firm but not painful. His touch was protective, almost possessive, but Y/N could sense the underlying concern.
She glanced down at his hand, raising an eyebrow. Realizing what he had done, Erlang Shen released her with a heavy sigh. "You're too trusting, Y/N. Being nice to everyone will only get you hurt. You need to be more cautious."
Y/N chuckled softly, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "And you need to work on that attitude of yours," she teased, lightly nudging his arm.
Erlang Shen's stoic expression faltered for a moment, and a faint blush crept up his cheeks. He growled in frustration, but there was no real anger in his voice. "You're impossible," he muttered, though the corners of his mouth twitched upward slightly.
She laughed again, the sound like a melody that echoed through the quiet garden. "I'll be fine, Shen. Those monkeys are pretty cheeky, but they're not as bad as everyone thinks."
Erlang Shen stared at her, his confusion evident. "Did you... find them cute?" he asked, incredulous. The idea that someone like her, someone so refined and powerful, could see anything but beasts in the wild monkeys baffled him.
"Perhaps," Y/N replied with a mischievous grin, enjoying how flustered he seemed.
Erlang Shen shook his head in disbelief. "You're special, Y/N, too special to the Celestial Realm. If anything were to happen to you, it would be a great loss," he said, his voice softening slightly as he averted his gaze.
She noticed the way his usual stern demeanor cracked just a bit, and she couldn't help but smile. Teasing him further, she elbowed his arm playfully. "Oh, so you do care about me."
His blush deepened, and he quickly pushed her away, though there was no force behind it. "Stop playing around, Y/N," he grumbled, trying to regain his composure.
Y/N's laughter filled the air once more, and she gave him a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, I can handle myself. I promise I won't let those monkeys get the better of me."
Erlang Shen watched her as she walked away, heading towards the garden. His heart, usually as solid as stone, felt strangely lighter in her presence. But even as he tried to push the thoughts aside, he couldn't shake the feeling that Y/N was unlike anyone he had ever met. And that, more than anything, made him want to protect her, no matter the cost.
