3 years later
Someone knocked on the door while Anna stared at herself in the mirror.
"It fits fine this time", said her dad, getting closer to where she was to see how beautiful his daughter looked in her wedding dress.
"Yes", she laughed.
"You look beautiful, honey".
While she was still hugging her dad, the door opened again and a little girl ran to see her mum.
"Mummy pretty!"
"Do I look pretty, Sofi?", asked Anna, trying to lift her daughter to hug her.
"No no no. Don't let her touch the dress".
"Mum, I want to hug my daughter".
"Let me take her to wash her hands first. You're wearing white, Anna".
Anna saw her mum taking Sofía to the bathroom and soon she was back and ready to jump into her mum's arms.
"Daddy is pretty too".
"Did you see him?"
"Yes. He gave me chocolate".
"And that's why she had to wash her hands", repeated the worried grandma. "And your future husband doesn't look pretty. He looks so hot".
"Mum!"
"Daddy hot? Mummy? Is daddy sick?"
Of course, Sofía associated being hot with having a temperature and they all laughed.
"He's fine, my love. Was the chocolate nice?"
"I want more".
"Maybe later".
"Hi Sofi Sof!", said Joel when he got inside the room and saw his niece.
"Jojo!"
With Sofía still in his arms, Joel walked to where Anna was and smiled at her and kissed her cheek.
"You look so beautiful, Anna".
"Thank you".
"I can't believe you're getting married. And your man is so nervous. It's too funny. As if he's still doubting your relationship or something", he joked, kissing Sofía's head.
"I think it's sweet. And I'm also nervous".
"Don't be", told her Joel, kissing Anna's cheek again before telling his mum to leave with him and Sofía.
Everyone left but Anna's dad, who was supposed to walk her to the altar.
"I've dreamed of this day since we were told one of the twins was a baby girl".
"Really? Did you expect me to be a mum already when I got married?"
Her dad shook her head, trying not to be annoyed by her taunting. Josep had been raised in a very religious family so that situation was not ideal at first...but then he saw Sofía and forgot about everything. Her grandparents were obsessed with her. As were her parents. She was the literal perfect mix of both of them but everyone complimented her big brown eyes that looked exactly like Ferran's when he was a little boy.
"At least you're going against the Lord's rules with a good guy who looks after you and Sofi".
"Yeah".
Anna bit her lip, trying not to ruin her lipstick and then she saw Ferran turning to look at her when the wedding march started. He did look hot. And he thought Anna looked like an angel.
"Hi".
"Hi. I was worried you wouldn't show up".
When Ferran leaned closer to Anna, her dad cleared his throat and he kissed her cheek instead.
Getting married was an emotional moment but none of them were truly ready to see little Sofía bringing them their rings. Her grandma, Anna's mum, was walking with her since she was still only two. But her parents only had eyes for their little baby. Having her be part of the ceremony made everything even more special.
"Rings! Rings!", she screamed when she got to the altar and everyone laughed.
"Thank you, darling", told her the priest. "You did an amazing job".
Her grandma tried to take her back to her seat but Sofía hugged her dad's leg and didn't want to let go. So Ferran picked her up in his arms and told everyone to continue.
"You may kiss the bride".
Now Ferran really could lean forward to kiss his wife's lips, which proved a little complicated since Sofía kept trying to separate their faces so she could get the kisses instead. And her parents had no problems kissing her little face and making everyone smile at the cute scene in front of them.
Everyone approached the happy couple to congratulate them and take photos with them.
"Today was perfect", whispered Anna, placing her head on Ferran's shoulder.
"I know. But it's missing something".
"What?"
He called the photographer to get closer and then asked him to take a photo of them and Sofía.
"This is the one the grandparents want for their houses. They don't care about you and me anymore".
"I know".
And then it was time for the guests to head to the reception while Anna and Ferran did their official wedding photos.
"Thank you", said Ferran while the photographer left to check the photos on his laptop monitor.
"For marrying you?"
He shook his head.
"For giving you a daughter?"
"Well...thank you for all of that too but not what I meant".
"Then what are you thanking me for?"
"Thank you for choosing me".
