"You fucking bastard!"

"Anna! What are you doing?", asked Hugo after dodging the plate she had thrown at him. He didn't understand what could make her react like that.

"What am I doing? What did you do?"

She showed him the phone and he immediately understood. The thread showed photos of Hugo and another woman. The one Pedri had seen him with. The one he was cheating on Anna with.

"It was a mistake".

"Yes. Being with you was one. I've wasted a whole year of my life with you".

"Baby...".

"I chose you. And this is how you pay me back".

Anna ran upstairs to start packing her things so she could leave but when she heard Hugo calling her name, she took off her engagement ring and threw it at him too.

"I hate you. You're the biggest mistake I've made".

And Hugo knew what she meant. Anna had chosen to be with him when she could have been with Ferran all along. That was her mistake. Making the wrong choice.

Anna got inside her car and started to drive. She didn't even know where she was going but she also knew very well. What she didn't know was that the reason she found out about Hugo's cheating was because of what Pedri had planned. After he saw Hugo with that other woman, he hired someone to follow him and get the proof.

Pedri did it because of Ferran, sure. But also because he didn't think it fair to keep that information from Anna. She didn't deserve that...and now she could be with the man she deserved. But neither Anna nor Ferran knew this. And if it was up to Pedri, they were never going to find out.

Ferran had also seen the article and was thinking about how he could try and talk to Anna. She had ignored his calls and texts after what happened at the gala. But now she would know it was all true. Thankfully, he didn't have to think about what to do for long. When he heard the doorbell ringing, he knew it was Anna.

"I'm sorry", she said.

Ferran just hugged her, knowing she needed the comfort of being in his arms. And it made him feel useful to know such a small gesture could help. It was so special to know Anna ran to him when she had been hurt. That she thought it was Ferran who could help her. Not her parents or her brother...but him.

"I chose him over you", she whispered and Ferran swallowed, getting the meaning of her words. "He was supposed to be the safe option. I'm so fucking stupid".

"He lied to you...".

"And I believed every lie. Every single one".

This time, it was Anna who held his face to kiss Ferran. He didn't want to reject her, knowing how much she was going through but also didn't want to feel like he was taking advantage of the situation so he ended the kiss sooner than he wanted to.

"Whatever you need, I'm here for you".

"I want you to look after me. To love me. To make me feel like I'm more than just a trophy you can show to others to tell them you have it and they don't...but not now".

"What do you mean...".

"Now I need you to fuck my brains out. To make me stop thinking. I need you to make me feel wanted".

"Anna...".

"I know you want more. So do I. But not now. Please", she was almost begging and it broke his heart. "Make me feel something other than pain".

"It's all too raw...I don't want you to do something you regret".

"The only thing I regret is not having done this sooner. It should have always been you. I mean, it was always you but I kept lying to myself. And look where that got me".

Hearing the sincerity in her words woke something up in him. So Ferran picked her up and took her upstairs to his bedroom. Once there, he placed her in his bed. Anna was looking up at him, waiting to see his next move. Ferran's tender look changed when he took off his shirt before joining her in bed.

If she needed this, he'd give it to her. He'd do anything for her. Anything. But he also couldn't fully do it. Ferran realised that quickly. He couldn't do sex without feelings. Not with Anna. And even if Anna didn't say a word, she welcomed the change she noticed in Ferran a couple of minutes into their make-out session. Because she loved being held so tenderly. She wanted that more than she'd ever wanted anything else. And just kissing was fine. It was enough. She'd have definitely regretted remembering their first time together as just meaningless sex when she was so hurt. It was so comforting to see how well Ferran knew her. How easily he could guess what she needed from him.

But what she loved the most was hearing him whisper that he loved her when she was almost fully asleep. And she couldn't wait until she could say it back to him.
