Hell of A Storm (Twisters Tyler x OC)

Chapter 1 - Tear Us Apart

I watched Twisters and fell in love. The movie and the story were amazing, and I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I really did enjoy the character developments and relationship build ups in the movie... however that being said I couldn't stop thinking about an OC insert and writing them in.

So, this is the re-write that no one asked for but I needed to write so I wouldn't lose my mind. This will be a Tyler/OC fic, and I will do my best to make the OC insert clean and not feel forced. This also means it will possibly lead to a Kate/Javi relationship.

I don't own anything other than my OC, and this is unbeta'd which means there will be errors and I accept all of them.

CHAPTER 1

This was her favorite part before a storm hit. It was the quiet, the calm. The clouds hung in the sky taunting the ground below. Mornings were where I found the most peace. Sitting a few feet away from our parked vehicles and watching the clouds shift in the distance smiling as I could feel the energy in the air start to change. Opening the notebook on my lap I looked at the formulas for our project again.

"How many times are you going to look at those?" A voice said behind me. Kate Carter, my best friend, and the second half leading our crazy idea to tame tornados. She was a crazy as I was about the weather and the idea of understanding the cause of tornados. Living in Oklahoma tornados were second hand to us. We had been chasing them since we were old enough to drive, and before then we would get as close as we could.

"I just want to be sure." I smiled without looking up. Kate stood above me, and I could hear the click of her camera as she examined the same cloud structure I was.

"That's the one." She whispered and I could hear the smile in her voice. I nodded looking back at the storm in the distance. "What's your feeling?"

Kate and I had been told we had a gift. Individually we were okay but together, we could tell the team how big a tornado would be, where it would touch down and where the path would shift to. I joked and would say it was all in the wind if you listened. Closing my eyes I let the wind blow past me before every storm and could feel the power in the air. My brother Jeb said it was my special power, and with Kate's gift of finding the right storm the world would have to watch out.

"Feels like its the one." I said softly agreeing with her original statement. "Wind is strong, that storm... that's the storm that gonna change everything." I smiled looking up at her. She was smiling behind the camera lens and nodding. Pulling the camera away from her face she nudged my shoulder before turning to run back to the cars.

Standing up I closed the notebook and looked back at the clouds. I usually was excited and jittery but this time, we could make history, we could add to science, if this worked, we could really make a difference and help people. I never got nervous chasing storms, but my stomach was in knots as I realized how close we really were. Walking to Jeb's jeep I tossed my notebook on the passenger seat watching as Kate sat above him coaxing him awake.

"Time to get up." She said softly and Jeb groaned but smiled.

"Seriously, get up!" I laughed, tossing my pencil at him. Kate giggled and leaned down kissing him as Jeb moved to sit up.

"You two found one for us?" He asked looking up at Kate before turning to me. I nodded with a big smile. Jeb had supported our endeavor from the beginning. He was there keeping us going when we wanted to give up. As Kate and I went through school, working to get our PhD, he was right there, sitting up with us well into the night.

Tapping on the door of his car I pushed off and moved to the van parked behind it. Leaning in the driver's window I pressed the center of the wheel letting the horn startle my three other friends awake.
