This has been so much fun to write, and I have so many ideas for continuing this on. These chapters are taking me so long to get through because I just want to make sure I get them right and do the movie and its characters justice.
I think we have a few more chapters left before we move past the movie into what ifs for the characters futures.
I don't own Twisters, characters, stories etc. but I own my OC and my imagination, and of course all my errors.
Annabelle's POV
The sky had opened up by the time I finally made my way back to the house. The barn door was closed, and the house was quiet. Slowly I made my way inside and up the stairs, my eyes looking at the closed guestroom door. Tyler hadn't done anything tonight out of malice. He was excited, and I couldn't be mad at him for that. I wasn't mad at him; I was mad at myself. Mad that I couldn't be happy or consider the thought of running the project again. Sighing, I walked to Kate's room. The door was slightly open, and the light flooded into the hallway as I pushed it open, pulling off the wet flannel shirt and draping it on her desk chair.
She was sitting up against her headboard with her laptop on her lap, watching as I walked to the other side of the bed and sat down. Looking over my shoulder at her, she raised her eyebrow at me, putting her laptop on the end table. With my legs still hanging over the bed I let my head fall into her lap, and I stared up at the ceiling.
"How you feelin'?" She asked and I felt her hand brush through my damp hair lightly.
"I'm tired Kate." I answered softly. "Emotionally, mentally, physically... I'm tired. And I am so tired of being tired."
"I know..." She responded softly, but a buzz from her nightstand caught my attention. Shifting so I could turn my head, I watched as she lifted her phone up, her eyes on the screen and her thumb hovering over the screen, before she decided to hit the side button ignoring the incoming call.
"You should talk to Javi," I told her sitting up and turning so I was leaning on her foot board looking at her.
"Anna..."
"Don't Anna me." I rolled my eyes. "He's been calling you non-stop... you should answer it. Or better yet, go talk to him in person." Javi had been calling since last night, and she had several missed calls and texts this morning while we were cleaning her room. Every time, Kate ignored it and turned away, but there was a hesitation.
"After finding out about Riggs, and what he said..."
"What he said was harsh." I interrupted her taking a deep breath, "but I know he didn't mean it, not in the way it sounded."
"That doesn't make it right."
"No, it doesn't...but he feels guilty to." I said softly, giving her a small shrug. "For him, he sat back, miles away while his friends drove towards a tornado that took the life of over half of them. He couldn't help, he wasn't there."
"Yeah..." she nodded.
"I think that's why he took Riggs up on his offer." I continued. "He wanted to make a difference and didn't have the funds. He hoped the good outweighed the bad. As wrong as I think it is that Riggs is making a profit off tragedy, I don't think Javi was doing it for that reason." I watched as she nodded, looking back at her phone and I saw her bring her bottom lip between her teeth.
"You know I loved my brother." I finally spoke which caused her to look up at me surprised. "And I loved that you two were together. I also knew my brother very well and I know that he wouldn't want you giving up on happiness and love because he's no longer here."
