I would like to start by saying I have NO medical knowledge outside of the internet and medical shows, so this chapter is purely what sounded good in my head... it by no means is completely logical or accurate, so if you don't like that... I'm so so so sorry.

Also, this chapter was super hard to write. I really hope it didn't feel out of character or out of place and flowed okay... i'm kinda nervous about posting it.

Annabelle's POV

The sound of chaos is what first pulled me from the darkness. Muted sounds suddenly turned into yelling, machines running, things being moved beside me, and I felt extremely disoriented. The last thing I remember was being in the truck after the tornado, Tyler getting me out, and then everything was a blur. What I did know was when my memory faded, I was in a field outside of El Reno. Opening my eyes, my head felt heavy and my mouth dry. I wasn't in the field anymore... I was in a building, and there were curtains around me, the smell of antiseptic strong beside me. A hospital...

My heart immediately started hammering. The last time I was in this position, I had lost three people, lost my brother... I couldn't be here, not right now. I needed to make sure everyone was okay. Needed to see Kate. I knew my mind wasn't thinking logically, I was panicking, somewhere I knew this, but right now I had a one-track mind.

Pain lanced through my body as I tried to sit up. The pain in my side was still there, but where Tyler's hands had been pressing hard earlier, there was something pressed and wrapped around my middle.

"Ma'am you need to lay back." Someone was beside me and I felt a hand press me back down but that only pushed me further into fight and flight mode. I shook my head and tried to sit up again, and the person's hand nudged my left shoulder. I saw stars as I cried out and fell back into the bed trying to pull away from the hand. "Can I get some help in here?" the voice yelled. "You need to calm down."

"I need to see them." I forced out through clenched teeth.

"You can't get up just yet," I realized the person talking was an ER nurse, and she was trying her best to be calm, but when I looked at her face, the features were grim as she looked over me.

"Ms. McCormick, my name is Doctor Simmons, I need you to calm down." A man I didn't recognize came through the curtain, but it only made me more anxious. Logically, he was there to help, but I didn't know where I was or who anyone was and I was scared, being in this situation again terrified me. "We're gonna give you something to relax you."

"No..." I shook my head pushing away slightly, but the movement made me cringe, and the monitor behind me blare. From the corner of my eye, I could see the doctors and a different nurse working on something and caught a glimpse of the syringe. "Wait, I just..."

"We need to get you upstairs to X-RAY," The doctor was trying to sound calm and reassuring, but it wasn't helping. "I know you're scared..."

"Where... the people that came with me?" Talking was getting harder, and I realized I was starting to hyperventilate.

"Anna!" Someone burst through the curtains and was by my side instantly. There were objections beside me but all I could see was Javi as he came into view. His hands wrapped gently around me, and I felt tears stream down my cheeks, and a little bit of panic ease. I let me good arm wrap around him.

"Sir, we need you to ..."

"Give her a minute man." Javi pulled away looking at the doctor.

"If we don't get this..."

"This is the second EF5 she has survived. Give her a damn minute." Javi exclaimed and I scowled at him. Javi wasn't one to get angry and I don't think I had ever heard him raise his voice this way before as he looked around the room, and he glared at the syringe in the doctor's hands. "Look man, I get it, but the last time she went through this she lost her brother. She needs to see her friends are okay."
