I am doing my best with this re-write to not have my OC take over for Kate's roll and her lines, making the lines her own. But the line about trusting a guy who puts his face on a t-shirt was just too good not to have my OC say.

It's so much fun to write the banter between my OC and Tyler.

As I am writing this, I realize that Kate isn't the main focus, and that is because the story is centric on Tyler and OC however, I am trying to stay true to Kate and her character and not may her out of character as I write.

I don't own any of Twisters ideas, characters or stories... just my OC and her background, and of course the errors that are undoubtedly present.

Javi made plans with Scott to meet the next morning at a local diner with their 'investor'. During his phone call, as Kate and I waited, I could tell when the conversation turned to the tornado we had just run from. To Javi's credit it was clear he was defending us, and it was clear Scott didn't like us much either. Eventually we got back on the road again and Javi got us rooms at a local motel, that it seemed every storm chaser in the vicinity was staying at. It was an interesting and amazing thing to see, people from all over the county and state sitting together, laughing and celebrating together, knowing tomorrow we'd all be fighting for a look at the same storm system.

"Haven't we stayed here before?" Javi asked as we got out of the truck and walked slowly towards the rooms. I looked up at the building and smiled to myself as the memory of the last time we were here came back.

"Yeah," Kate smiled.

"We've been to nearly every motel in Oklahoma." I added with a small laugh.

"Remember, we used to have Addy check in." Javi laughed at the memory, and I felt the burning in my nose and the sting in the corner of my eyes, as the thought of Addy came up. I didn't want to cry out in front of everyone, and as sad as it was to think of my old friend, it was nice to have a nice memory to look back at after today. "Then later we'd all sneak into the room so we could all save 10 bucks."

"You got stuck in one of the windows if I remember correctly." I laughed looking at Javi, "because you didn't want to go through the door."

"It was supposed to look cool." Javi defended lightly.

"Definitely looked cool."

"Yeah, okay..." He groaned, "Regardless of what I did... we would have Addy do it because..."

"She looked so sweet." Kate finished his sentence, and I looked at her. She had her eyes on the ground as she spoke but there was a faint smile on her lips as she spoke.

"Hey, look, you guys wanna hang out for a bit later?" Javi asked stopping before we went our separate ways. "You know I'll just go into the room real quick and obviously shower and then we can come back out here." I was prepared to decline, but Kate was quick to do it instead.

"Uh, Javi... I'm really tired." She said and I could see the disappointment on Javi's face feeling a pang of guilt for him. Despite the chaos from the day, he was trying to get back to where we had been years ago, to have that friendship again. "Maybe another time?"

"Yeah..." He nodded trying to hide the facial expression, "Yeah, alright... have a good night." As Kate turned to leave, I stood looking at her go before turning back to Javi.

"I'll go check on her." I sighed. "She'll get there Javi, just... be patient." I put my hand on his arm and tried to reassure him. He nodded still watching Kate go. "Regardless of why we're here... it really is good to see you again Javi."
