Me and Cobalt stayed out there talking.
It turned out that he and Luna were raised as something to prophet off. The minimum age for the arena was ten. As soon as they turned ten they were shipped off to this place.
He was now eighteen and Luna seventeen.
It made me so mad. Who could do that to a child? I remember the kid I killed. Most of the kids there had no idea how to fight. It turns out Rain protected them all. He was basically a big brother to them despite being around the same age.
When it was morning the strange people who took us here came back. They carried a chest. Inside were various items. Candy, blankets, rubbing alcohol, spices, and cloth.
Sapphire looked at me. We both had no idea what to do. Fortunately Cobalt whispered to us instructions. He came up behind me.
“You can take one of these. Since we won.” he hissed under his breath. He slithered forward. His hand felt what had to be offered. He grabbed the bottle of rubbing alcohol, and he headed to the cave most likely to help Luna get out.
I walked forward and looked over my options. What would be the most helpful? My hand hovered over the blanket. Then moved toward the candy and spices. I stopped myself. Even though the food they give us is unbelievably bland I couldn't give into temptations. I snatched the blanket. It was heavy, most likely made of fleece.
Sapphire was at the chest now. She was hesitant. She looked over the objects and grabbed the fabric. It had many colors and textures. I wondered what she planned to do with it.
Luna hobbled out putting most of her weight on Cobalt. She had two choices. Candy or spices. I thought she would grab the candy. However her hand skipped over it and grabbed the jar of spices.
They left soon after. We all sat down to discuss our items. Cobalt tore a sleeve off of his shirt to tend to Luna's wounds. He carefully poured his item on the cloth and pressed it to the wound that was mostly healed.
“Hey um Sapphire, why did you choose the fabric?” The question was burning inside of me but for some reason I feel like I shouldn't speak around those guards.
She looked over at me and realized something. “Oh I can sew, they didn't look through my pockets and left me my sewing needles.. And let's face it we all need some new clothes.” She waved at us.
“Also if we get anything for armor I can use for the outfits.” she said.
“That… makes sense.” I glanced over at us. Luna's clothes looked a few sizes too small and had one side ripped up.
Cobalt was now missing both sleeves of his shirt. My own outfit had a bit of a tear in it. And the sleeve was all ripped up from the shadow.
Sapphire was mostly untouched, except for a few holes in her pants she was perfectly fine. And the holes blended in since she wore jeans.
“Luna, why did you choose spices?” I wondered. It was a mix of them with some seeds in the bottom. I didn't notice those before.
She clutched the jar, and whispered. “I could hear them. The seeds.” She lifted the jar.
“Inside these are herb seeds. I can make them grow. Morphs that transform have a connection to nature.” Her hand raked a hole in the ground. She poured seeds in and covered it.
Her hand was placed on the lump of dirt. Her mouth moved but I couldn't hear her. All of the sudden shoots exploded around her. The seed grew and she was inside a small garden in no time.
