We were talking outside by the lake the next day. Cobalt was doing better but was still skittish. Luna drew a rough map of the arena in the dirt. It was a circle shape with stands behind a magic force field. Each team would enter from four points opposite of each other.
I saw some people walking up to us. They were dressed in suits and had a black earpiece in.
“Follow my lead.” Luna whispered to me and Sapphire.
“And don't do anything stupid.” Cobalt muttered under his breath. He stuck his hands out and they put a heavy looking metal band on his arm. Luna then did the same.
I shrugged and stuck my arm out. When the metal was put on my arm jerked down. How are we supposed to do anything in these? I thought to myself. Oh. I'm an idiot, they are here to keep us from running.
They then escorted us out of the cage and into the back of a van. Fortunately, they allowed us to talk once we got in. Its inside was pale, gloomy, gray. There were no seats in the back so we sat on the floor. The escorts sat up front.
“Ok spill it! Where are they taking us!?” Sapphire hissed at Cobalt. I could tell she was preparing to use her siren song on him if he wouldn't speak.
“Like we said before there is an arena. They will be taking us to a separate cage in an arena. Most likely the same one we were in before.” He said, even though we couldn't see his eyes it felt like he was glaring.
“As soon as we get there we will probably get our weapons and get thrown into a round.” Luna said, looking out the window.
We were on the road for hours. It turns out when you don't have a stable seat or a seat belt it is really easy to get thrown around. We had to untangle ourselves from a dogpile several times.
Suddenly the driver slammed on the brakes and we were all thrown forward. I had my head squashed against the seat. Sapphire was under me. Luna and Cobalt landed on top of us.
The back of the van was opened and they grabbed each of us and threw us on the ground outside before closing the door.
The arena was huge. I faintly remember how the ruins of the Colosseum in Rome were similar in a way, but these were a whole new structure. It was about two times the size of a normal colosseum. It looked like a sports stadium except it had the big arches and pillars of a Roman building.
One person was in front of us and the other was tailing us. We walked through a designated door. We were in a small damp smelling corridor. The ground crunched under us. Finally we came out into a dimly lit area that was quite similar to the cage we had been in earlier.
It had a large wall made of rocks. In the middle there was a large pond. Except this one had a big iron fence holding us back.
I walked toward the fence. Spears and swords hung on the wall. A bow with several arrows in a quiver. A morning star leaned against a wall. Cobalt came beside me and took a broadsword. He attached the sheath to his belt.
I grabbed a spear and I noticed the sheath gripped around the pole. It had several straps. Luna came behind me and fixed it to my back.
I had one strap over my chest coming from the right and looping back around near my left hip. The other circle under my rib cage.
“Nice.” Sapphire said, grabbing the bow. “Super badass.” She said while putting on the quiver.
“Thanks… I think.” I said grabbing the spear and testing its weight.
“I was talking about me.” She joked.
“We should not be joking right now! This is serious. You could die!” Cobalt said facepalming.
