"Why is nobody talking?" I whispered. "Because they're worried, Luke. Shut up." John argues. Hailey nudges my arm. "You good?"
"Fine and dandy." I sighed, watching her frown at me. "Fine and dandy people don't usually say fine and dandy."
"Then they wouldn't be fine and dandy. They would be the opposite." She nods. "You're not fine and dandy."
"No. I want to die. But so t repeat that to the doctors or they'll lock me up." She snickers. "I might just go round telling everybody. News at six."
"You mother fucker- everybody is moving. Where are they going?" They've been at the hospital all week. They were waiting for somebody I knew that much. I just didn't know who. I didn't really care either.
"I'm gonna go to the gym. I'll see you guys at home." She nods. "Okay. I'll get you some pizza." I kiss her cheek. "Angel."
I sort of enjoyed having g company that wasn't just Calum. I know John and Kylie were there but they were just really tall and annoying versions of each other.
Hailey was kind of annoying but in more of a lovable kind of way. The other two were just annoying.
And she seemed to make Calum happy which was a rare sight. It was nice seeing him actually smile at somebody and mean it.
The gym was a lot more crowded than I was used to. I just moved around as best I could without being bothered or bothering anybody.
It was harder than I thought. The entire three hours was just hell on earth. I would probably rather eat somebody's hand than do that again.
Sitting in my car for a minute while I tried to get my heart rate back to normal, I felt my head start to hurt again.
Checking my drink to make sure I hadn't been drugged. "What the fuck."
I spent the entire drive home trying to figure it out. Only to realise once I'd un-tensed my jaw that my problem was my mouth.
Tripping over the table again, I set my keys down. "Seriously. Fuck."
Lifting my shirt a little, I noticed a little scar that wasn't there before. My mind was spiralling. I needed to either be shot or do a shot. Either way I did not want to be able to recall anything I do.
I made my way into the kitchen, my heart completely stopping and my feet stuck in place as the girl stands with a smile. "Hello."
She was absolutely the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my life. I didn't even have anything to say, I had so much I could say but she'd laugh at me if I did.
I'm not sure why I'm worried about that. What the hell is happening.
It had taken me a few seconds of staring to realise that she was quite literally the girl of my dreams. "Holy shit."
"Am I eating the wrong one? I did ask." She had the sweetest little voice. "No. No you're fine. I'm Luke."
"I'm Atlas." She held out her hand, quickly pulling it back. "Sorry. Hi."
"Are you staying here?" She shrugs. "They said to ask you. I have a place but they got mad at me so I don't know what's happening."
"You can stay in my room- I'll, I, won't be in there. You'll be there on your own. But you can stay in there. I can't really sleep in there anyway it's, dark."
"Dark?" She asked quietly. "I can make it less dark for you. I just don't like sleeping in there. It's cold and I'm not warm so I'm just always cold. I can- I'll buy a lamp. I'm gonna go-"
Walking into the kitchen counter, I clear my throat. "It's fine. I'm gonna go buy a lamp. Don't sleep yet. I will be- I'll be right back- ow. I'm fine."
She was real, Kylie fucking knew it too. Son of a bitch just kept it from me.
I've spent the whole week out of the loop on this and now I'm unprepared and frantic in the fucking store. "Hi can I help you?"
"Lamp- sorry. I need a lamp." She nodded. "I can take you there. Come on."
I followed behind her, the smell of my mother's perfume hits my nose. My heart racing again. But all I could think about was Atlas.
Which was probably best, because a panic attack in the best buy is probably not something I needed. "Lamps. Are you okay? You're really, shaky."
"How do you talk to girl? Nicely?" She had such a nice smile, it was comforting in a way. "Just be honest. Be gentle. Try and remember that we have feelings, same as you."
"Okay. Thank you for the lamp- I'm gonna buy it. I just mean thank you for helping me." Everything was blending. I was going to have a panic attack over a girl.
"Table, table- there's a table." I still fucking walked into it. "Fuck."
Falling into the couch. I tried to catch my breath. Closing my eyes and breathing slowly. "Are you okay?" She asked from behind the couch. "You're so pretty."
"Oh." I stand up from the couch. Taking the lamp from the table. "I got you this one. It spins and the animals move. I was hoping it could help you sleep better, maybe."
"Thank you. Where are you going to sleep?" I point out toward the living room. "Couch- I like the couch. Don't worry."
"You smell like whiskey." The tone of it made me feel sick. I set the lamp down, moving back. "You can plug it in. I'll be right back to get you some clothes." I rushed into my bathroom.
Brushing three times because I needed the smell gone. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound rude. I wasn't trying to judge you or anything I was just-"
"It's okay. It's fine, breathe." She took a deep breath in. "Okay, thank you. Thank you for the lamp and I'm sorry about- eating your pizza and I'm insulting your- smell?"
"There's so many words." She nods, her nose scrunched. "It was bad." She laughed, my life doubling in length from the sound of it. "You ate my pizza?" Her lips pursed. "Sorry."
Once she was settled and the bedroom door was closed, I sat down on the couch.
Taking the bottle of tequila from under the couch. Searching through the tv and landing on the stupid little show about fairies that my mum used to watch.
The more empty the bottle got the less I felt everything in my body.
Falling onto my side, I watched as long as I could. Falling asleep with the bottle still in hand and the drawing pad resting under my chin.
