At the end of this lingering, wasted day
All I have still is soft sheets
A warm bed, a nuzzled dog,
And a brain that forces my eyes open
When its attention is turned to all matters
There is simply no rest
Until I finally fall into the black, then
Reawakened by new energizing thoughts
How do others simply turn this off?
Meditation, reading, exercise, routine,
It all almost works, but then
The sky brightens with a thunderous bolt
And I'm reeled in again
To the never-ending musings
