Chapter 14 Rice. Fields.

Kai POV

There's People! They're dressed for the weather, but they're holding bows and spears.

"Hello." Nya speaks up from beside me, her voice shivering a bit.

I hadn't known when she moved next to me. I really wish that I could help them not be cold.

"Oh, come with. You must be cold, we can- What is That!"

Garmadon had walked behind the ice and just came from behind it. Murmurs of "New Ice Samurai" started up from the group of six; Their weapons raised at him. He was about to say something, Harumi too apparently, when I jumped in.

"Hey! Don't worry, he's an ally. He won't hurt you." I pointedly look at him, he huffs. "You were saying something about warming up?"

They look skeptical for a moment before telling us to follow them to their village. Harumi mutters a thank you to me and Garmadon nods his head. The journey to the village, though short, was problematic for me. I'm still freezing, not to mention the sluggish way my body's responding. Though when I (begrudgingly) accepted Garmadon's help, It became a lot easier.

Jay POV

"Nya, I love you," She eyes me weirdly "Does Kai seem to act.. different to you?" I whisper to her.

We're at the back of the group while we walked to the village. I'm sure Cole heard me, I've never really been one to talk quietly, but for his part, pretends to not and acts as a sort of barrier between us two and the other three.

"Yeah." Nya starts "He seems fine with Garmadon. Like he trusts him." She looks towards her brother, who is nearly pressed against Garmadon's side, both of Garmadon's right hands loosely holding him there. I wonder if Garmadon's a portable heater. He's already shirtless, still in a tank, but still.

"You noticed he got a lot less aggressive since we found Lloyd-"

"He was also in the midst of panic and was working to burn down all of Ninjago to find him."

"Fair. But also not exactly. He's done this before, back with the FangBlades ordeal. He got really aggressive with Garmadon and then when Lloyd showed trust in him, it went away. Do you think it's the same here? That now that Lloyd's shown full trust in them, that Kai's just ok with them?"

"Or it's just cause they're helping him right now when he's pretty much sick, if not already." Cole pipes in, voice low.

Harumi whips her head to Kai, scanning and checking his face and temperature while Kai bats her hand away. For how long had she been listening? Was I too loud?

"Not sick!" Kai yells back, moving to Garmadon's left to get away from Harumi. "You're also talking loud."

If it wasn't freezing, I'd be sure my cheeks would be burning in embarrassment. As it is, they're red and heated by the snow instead.

The people ahead are still murmuring to each other, glancing back at Garmadon.

"Cole, I'm really cold, can I get hugs?"

They said something about Ice Samurai people. Is that about Zane? It's a bit of a far shot, but it could be; but these people seem nice, and they seem afraid of these people. If this is Zane, Why are they scared? Where's Lloyd? What's happened?

"I'm not carrying you."

In any case, Garmadon and Harumi aren't proven to be on our side. If they aren't, cause with Kai and Lloyd's trust it's actually an IF, when will they turn their backs? Were they planning to when we got here? Just take the tea, run away, and make their way back to Morro to take over Ninjago in our absence?
