"Please, have mercy and spare my so-"

The mother screamed at the sight of the murder of her only child. Tears flowed down her face and her eyes widened while her heart sank and started to hurt due to its rapid beating.

A mother's pained scream of losing a child was one of the most tragic things to happen in this world.

And so is a child losing a family.

The mother slowly looked up at the perpetrator with bloodshot eyes full of hatred and the intent to kill the person standing before her. Though, she has no strength for she is the one sitting helplessly on the floor with no weapon and no skill to fight.

While the perpetrator was looking down on her, gun pointing towards the now grieving mother.

"You may be wearing a mask," the mother said lowly, trying to keep her sentence straight despite her throat tightening. "But I can tell that you are a woman. A woman with no mother"

(Y/N) gripped on her gun at her last statement yet not moving an inch to even pull the trigger. Waiting to listen to the mother's last words.

"You have become a monster. Whoever turned you one, be his karma. May God send you the punishment...And I pray that your punishment will be love"

The Decimus woman lowered her gun as she pulled out her dagger with her left hand and instantly sliced the flesh of the mother's throat. Watching her body drop, mouth open unable to speak due to the blood pooling out of her throat.

(Y/N) took off her mask and turned around noticing that Serone was there waiting for her.

The young man didn't start up a conversation knowing that the girl was not in the right moment to talk. So he walked before her leading them outside of the crime scene stopped right in front of the carriage for him to open the door and looked back to see her standing right there.

Serone gestured with his hand "Let us get you home, Lady (Y/N)"

And the girl silently obliged.

It started to rain when they traveled to their manor, (Y/N) was looking out the carriage window her soulless eyes unconsciously following a raindrop slowly sliding down the window. Her mind instantly recalled the mother's tears and the words she said with so much spite.

Love as a punishment.

Never had (Y/N) thought that love could also be a punishment, she's still sixteen after all. However, what does the mother mean by Love? Was it about having romantic feelings for someone?
