Jungkook's eyes widened as he was met with a harsh slap that burned his cheek with a fiery sting. He looked up to see the one person who had always made his life a living hell—his mother, Jeon Somi.

"Jeon Jungkook, what the hell were you doing back there?" she spat, her voice dripping with venom.

"You really fell for a guy? How many times have I told you not to disgrace this family by getting involved with men? Is that why you've been rejecting the marriage offers from our business partners' daughter? How much more disappointment will you bring me, Jungkook? What sin did I commit to deserve a son as worthless as you?"

As if Jin's words weren't enough, now his mother's cutting remarks pushed Jungkook to the brink of rage. He felt numb, emotionless, as if he could die from the anger boiling inside him.

"You think I care what you think or whether you're disappointed?" Jungkook snapped back, his voice cold and sharp. "Just be grateful that I even acknowledge you as the woman who gave birth to me. I only respect you for that—nothing more. You're the one who's truly disgusting. So don't you dare project your nonsense onto me. Liking him or not doesn’t matter because even if I didn’t, I still wouldn’t do what you want. I am not your puppet—"

Before he could finish, another slap cut him off, this one even harsher than the last.

"Jeon Jungkook! How dare you!" his mother shrieked, her eyes blazing with fury. "So you really do like him! You're not even denying it! You—do you even realize that I can ruin you in an instant?"

Finally, reality hit Jungkook like a ton of bricks. He had never wanted his mother to find out about his feelings for guys. He knew how much it would infuriate her, considering her deep-rooted homophobia. Regret flooded him as his thoughts spiraled to Jin. What if his mother decided to go after him? What if Jin ended up hurt, just like Jhope?

The thought alone terrified Jungkook, leaving him in a state of panic. He had no idea how to cover up his mistake. Just then, his savior arrived.

"Ah, Aunty, you’re here. You almost ruined our plan," Yoongi said as he hurried over, his voice calm and composed as he slung an arm over Jungkook's shoulder.

Jeon Somi frowned, confused by his words. "Yoongi, what are you talking about?"

"Aunty, don't you get it?" Yoongi laughed lightly, effortlessly lying through his teeth. "We were just playing our usual game, just like I did with... what was his name again? Oh, right, Jhope. Jungkook is doing the same with this Jin guy. He's always been a thorn in our side, so we thought we'd mess with him too. But Jin was smarter than we expected."

Yoongi spoke casually, but Jungkook could clearly feel his pain as Yoongi talked like that about Jhope, the he loves so much. But he knew Yoongi was doing it to protect them both.

Jeon Somi, finally understanding, turned her attention back to Jungkook. "Then what was all that earlier? What were you trying to say?"

Yoongi smoothly stepped in again. "Well, Aunty, we had to make sure Jin wasn’t around. That's why Jungkook acted that way. But don’t worry, I’ve already confirmed he’s not here. My little cousin knows how to play the game well. I taught him, remember?" Yoongi said, smiling as he expertly covered for Jungkook.

Jeon Somi nodded, finally convinced. "I see. Well, don’t let him mess with you. Jin might be more dangerous than you realize, so be careful. I also came to inform you both about tomorrow's business party. You both have to attend. Yoongi, Moonbyul wants to see you, so make sure you meet her, alright?" she said, making Yoongi nod, hearing about his mother who was more of a hell, not any less than Jungkook’s mom.
