YUNHEE:

I was spending a boring Sunday under my sheets, slowly getting bored of scrolling through all social media apps on my phone. I receive a text from the girls' group chat, asking if we could hang out in a while, and since I had nothing worthwhile to do anyways, I begin typing a reply, asking them to count me in. Just before I could hit send, I receive an unexpected text.

jay🗿:
free to come work on the project in a bit?

I have never deleted a reply so fast.

I immediately text him back saying that I'll be there in an hour, and also type out an apology text to the girls saying that I'll be busy.

Look at me, throwing everything away for a boy. How pathetic of me.

Literally two seconds after I send the text, I hear knocks on my door, catching me off guard.

"I know for a fact that your ass has been on that bed the entire day, so how are you so busy all of a sudden?" Ryujiin pokes her face into my room as soon as I open the door, eyeing my disheveled appearance. She knew me too well.

"So... I need to work on that dance outfit of yours since I have some free time. I'll be working with Jay on it," I say carefully, hoping her attention goes to her outfit rather than Jay, and to my luck, that pea sized brain of hers did just that. Her eyes light up in excitement.

"REALLY? OMG!" She exclaims, clapping her hands like a seal. "I can't wait to see it! You better get that sexy thing ready soon," she says, slapping my ass before walking back to her room.

"O...kay."

Wow. It was that easy? Her attention span really sucks.

JAY:

I look at my phone with a stupid grin on my face, excited because Yunhee would be here soon. Unfortunately, I lived with a person whose sole purpose in life was to rain on my parade.

"You really thought I wouldn't find out about you going for your cousin's wedding? How many times must I tell you that you're not allowed to meet your mother or anyone from her family?" My father storms into the room, yelling. I put my phone down and look at him disinterestedly.

"I don't need your permission to meet my own mother, or anyone for that matter. I'm an adult and it's about damn time you started treating me like one," I reply to him, rising up from my seat. He scoffs.

"You better watch your tone, boy."

"Or what? You're gonna get rid of me, just like you did with mom?" I provoke him, earning myself a slap on the face. It hurt, but I didn't let it show to him.

"How dare you speak to your father like that?" He raises his voice in anger, eyebrows furrowed together. It was my turn to scoff now.

"You call yourself a father? High time you started acting like one," I seethe, opening up an opportunity to get my face injured again.

"You think you can get away with this behaviour? Let's see how that goes," he says, wearing a crazed smile on his face.

"Oh yeah? What are you gonna do, abandon me? Throw me out? I bet the media will have a lot to say about that."

"Face it, you're nothing without me. You have no other heir to take over your company, and that's the only reason you wanted custody of me when you and mom got separated. You never did anything for me out of love, you did it all for your selfish, personal gain and you're absolutely disgusting for that," I spit out, knowing that I had the last word. As usual, since he had nothing valid remaining to be said, he strikes my face even harder. I laugh it off manically, because at the end of the day, I had power over that manipulative man I'm forced to call a father. He grits his teeth and storms out of the house.
