"Willa."
My eyes blinked opened to find Codrin kneeling next to me, gently nudging me. Looking around I tried to get my bearings.
After he'd left with Grigore, I'd found my way to the study drawn by the promise of the bookshelves full of reading material to keep me occupied.
"I was waiting for you, I must've fallen asleep." I yawned out.
Sitting up, I stretched absentmindedly knocking the book I'd been reading, on Pricolici pack history, to the floor.
Codrin picked it up and looked at the title with amusement.
He quirked a brow, "Learn anything interesting."
A sheepish grin tugged at my lips, "I didn't get very far, if I'm being honest."
He chuckled, "this one is a bit dry."
He sat the book aside and turned back to me, his face solemn.
He swallowed. "Willa...I..."
I reached out for him, a feeling of apprehension sprouting in my chest and twisting my stomach. I brushed my fingertips through his dark hair before cupping his face in my hands.
Sighing deeply, he closed his eyes and leaned into my touch.
My brows came together, "Is everything okay? Why do you look like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders?"
Codrin's eyes opened to meet my gaze and I was lost to their intense swirling depths of gold and red, the telltale sign his entire being was in the moment with me.
He smiled weakly, "It is now."
Bringing his face closer, he brushed his nose back and forth against mine before pressing a tender kiss to my lips.
My arms went around his neck and my body slid forward on the leather sofa closing the distance between us.
He deepend the kiss, the tender caresses of his tongue and lips burning with a passion that mirrored my own.
When he swept me up into his arms, my breath caught in my chest and my stomach did a nervous flip. The tension that was rolling off his body and into me, had me trembling with anticipation.
I could sense his intentions.
The mate bond burned a fire through my veins and I saw the flames of it reflected in the flickering red of Codrin's eyes as he held me tightly against him.
The closer we got to his bedroom, the more my breaths quickened.
He carried me over the threshold and kicked the door shut behind us, before setting me on my feet at the foot of the large bed.
Looking down, he began working the buttons on his cuffs.
Desire stirred in my belly as I watched him, my eyes following the movements of his long, deft, fingers as he released the tiny buttons.
My yearning deepened.
When he'd freed both his wrists, his fingers went to the button at his collar.
Codrin met my gaze, "Willa, I need to know that you're sure about this, because there is no going back."
He cocked his head studying my face, but I was distracted. I rolled my bottom lip through my teeth watching enraptured as his hands moved slowly down the buttons of his shirt exposing more and more of his chiseled chest as he went. When he reached the final button and pulled his shirt open, my mouth went dry and my lips parted on a ragged breath.
