Chapter 37

After being hospitalized for a week, Mama Kim was allowed to stay at home, yet Chan had an important duty of being a 24/7 monitor for her. She had quite a bit of a hard time using the bathroom so he had to accompany her, feeding her full course meals and medicine on time prescribed by their doctor. Their bond grew stronger day by day, even noticeable to the eyes of the elder child.

Mingyu was grateful to have Chan looking after their mother, full on being her personal nurse, when he's off to work. He would sometimes come back home during lunch to eat together, other times he would bring Wonwoo with him.

Talking about Wonwoo, the man had officially left Pledis subsequent to handing every other stuff to Hongjoong and had been very busy launching his little store.

Before permanently leaving, his coworkers threw him a farewell party, took him to a fancy diner, drinking and singing their hearts out.

Seungcheol drank the most out of all of them; he was most affected since he had worked with Wonwoo for a long time. He also cried the most when everyone was making their emotional parting speech with a promise of reunion once every other day.

Mingyu had announced their relationship whilst he was drunk and received back a roar of 'we know' from their colleagues. Considering how much time the couple had spent together, they would have been able to figure it out by now. The drunken Mingyu giggled, went to show affection to his boyfriend by claiming his lips deeply, revealing another uproar and hand clapping sound inside the room.

Satisfying with the reaction, Mingyu licked his lips seducingly and off to clink his glass with their coworkers as if nothing happened. Wonwoo just sat there, smiling proudly at his boyfriend. Hopefully, Mingyu would remember his naive action by the time he sobered.

When Wonwoo noticed that no one could hold up to themselves anymore, he decided to conclude their little gathering. He helped them get their ride home and paid the fee for everyone, leaving behind a clinging and whiny big puppy. Mingyu would whine when the older told him to extract himself to get into the taxi comfortably, when the older went to the bathroom to get a wet towel to clean him and when the older took too long to cuddle him.

The younger man woke up in a bad mood with a massive headache, and refused to get out of bed. Wonwoo attempted several ways to cheer his boyfriend up and both of them ended in the movie theater, watching Deadpool & Wolverine. By the time the movie ended, Mingyu was in a much better mood. They went for a gelato stop together after, with frequent switching of flavor.

Wonwoo exchanged his store's profit for his boyfriend's happiness that day, and not a single ounce of regret dripped in his heart. He would do anything to keep that perfect canine smile and crescent eye decorating Mingyu's overall feature.

Mrs. Jeon occasionally came to hang out with her since Chan could not go to her house. She had a sleepover at their place a couple times when her husband was out of town. Too much for telling her that there won't be overseas business anymore. The Kim family enjoyed her company so no complaint was voiced out. Even Chan was sometimes squished in between both women when they went to sleep.

Everyone slipped back into their ordinary daily life; healing, studying, and working.

Then came Mingyu's birthday. He was quite disappointed when Hongjoong announced their business trip to Japan around that day. It was his birthday with Wonwoo being his boyfriend, he was really looking forward to spending it together with the older.

He stayed up all night video calling with Wonwoo to celebrate it. When it was almost midnight, the older man excused himself to the bathroom. The room suddenly went pit dark, Wonwoo came back with a mini cake in his hand and lit up the candle at exactly 12 am; Mingyu sobbed like a baby once again, overwhelmed with his hyung's romantic gesture.
