Mingyu went to his evening classes with heavy hearted. He had changed his class from morning to evening when the internship was approved in order for them not to be overlapped with each other.
This extremely exhausted the man but he had no other choice. the school demanded the student to find internship or job related to the subject to complete a course. If he failed to find any, he won't be graduated.
"Ugh, this can't be the course for sophomore. How can the senior survive this?"
The fact that his friends remained in the morning shift as they haven't found any job yet was tiresome. It was just him facing alone another unfamiliar faces and complicated lesson.
He plopped his head down next to the laptop while the class was still ongoing. Lecturer speech went from one ear to another, everything is blurred.
"That's it for today. Some of you must be hungry. Have a nice dinner." his lecture wrapped up his 7 to 8 pm lesson, "Just a reminder, don't forget to do the assignment."
A roar of grunting sound echoed throughout the lecture class from the student. Mingyu totally forgot until the professor pointed it out. He agreed to do it with the guys in morning shift yet he hadn't told them that he changed his shift.
What weirder is that he hadn't heard from his best friends for the past two days.
Had they forgot about him? Did they find someone to replace him already? Was he not important to them anymore?
All of these thoughts were roaming around in his head. Since that day he met his secondary school bully again, his previous insecurity has been occurring regularly. He often stayed in the bathroom for hours, overthinking everything and crying for no reason.
Leaving the classroom, Mingyu had his phone in his hand to look for any available bus back to home. After rushing to catch up the last bus, he sat at the backside of the bus. There were a few office workers who come back from working overtime. Mingyu put his earphone on and opened his message app.
He realized that he had muted the group chat. No wonder he had not received any message from his friends while those two did nothing but spamming the chat all day since yesterday.
Instead of texting them back, Mingyu decided to do a group video call. It was faster this way. Both of his best friends took less than a minute to answered the calls.
"Yah, Kim Mingyu," their voice was full of worrying, face displayed distressed, "Why weren't you coming to school?"
Mingyu was fidgeting with his clothes. It went into blindspot from the group. Now that he came face to face with them, how did he explain his disappearance? He totally forgot about this. The guilt from wrongly interpreting their friendship was killing him inside.
"H-hey g-guys," he greeted them with tremulous voices.
"Oh god, you know how worried we are. You replied to non of our messages. We looked into every class that you took, but you weren't there."
"Seokmin almost went to your house today." Soonyoung added.
"I'm sorry," Mingyu croaked out, "I got the internship from Pledis last month. I just started working yesterday and the task I need to do is piling up, I had no time to check my phone at all." he continued breathlessly, "I know that this is a lame excuse but it really did happen."
"Hey, hey, calm down, okay?" Seokmin intervened Mingyu from his blabbering, "Come on, look at me. Take a deep breath, 1 2."
It had been so long since they last witnessed Mingyu went into hyperventilation mode. They had seen it twice during high school, there was probably something that they were not aware of which triggered the latter into this state. It's only been two days, yet they felt as if they had missed a year worth of information from Mingyu.
