The whistle blew, signaling the start of a new set in the practice match between Karasuno and Nekoma. The gym was a flurry of activity as players prepared for the intense competition ahead. Y/N sat on the Karasuno bench, her demeanor calm and focused as she observed the game. Shimizu was beside her, occasionally offering support, but Y/N was engrossed in her task of taking detailed notes on the team's performance.

Kuroo, ever the charismatic leader of Nekoma, was fully engaged in the game. Yet, his attention frequently drifted toward Y/N. Her composed presence and meticulous note-taking had caught his interest. Every time he glanced her way, his curiosity about her deepened. Kenma, ever observant, caught Kuroo's wandering gaze and couldn't help but comment.

"Someone's distracted," Kenma said dryly, raising an eyebrow as he noticed Kuroo's repeated glances toward Y/N.

Kuroo quickly refocused on the game but couldn't shake his curiosity. The match continued with both teams battling fiercely, and the intensity in the gym was palpable. Despite their best efforts, Karasuno struggled against Nekoma's well-coordinated attacks, and Nekoma secured the victory in straight sets.

As the final whistle blew, signaling the end of the match, the players from both teams gathered at the center of the court. The exchange of bows and thanks was heartfelt, with both teams showing mutual respect. Coaches Ukai and Nekomata, along with Shimizu and Y/N, joined in the gratitude, acknowledging the spirited competition.

While the other players and coaches engaged in lively conversations and shared stories from the match, Y/N and Shimizu began the task of clearing the gym. Their movements were methodical, a testament to their efficiency. Kuroo, however, found himself increasingly drawn to Y/N, unable to shake off his curiosity.

Before the Nekoma team prepared to leave, Kuroo decided to approach Y/N. He walked over to where she was organizing equipment, his expression friendly but with a hint of nervousness. As he neared her, he offered a warm smile.

"Hi, I'm Kuroo Tetsurou from Nekoma," he began. "I just wanted to say you did a great job managing today's match. I couldn't help but notice how focused you were. I heard you used to play volleyball. Did you play for long?"

Y/N looked up from her notes, her calm demeanor unwavering. "Hello, I'm L/N F/N, people just call me Y/N. I used to play volleyball back in middle school, but I stopped after that."

Kuroo's interest was piqued. "Oh, really? That's interesting. It must have been quite an experience."

Y/N nodded. "Yes, it was. I enjoyed it a lot, but I decided to step away and take on a different role."

Just then, Yaku called out to Kuroo, reminding him that the Nekoma team was about to head to the bus. Kuroo's chance to continue the conversation was slipping away, so he acted quickly. Reaching into his bag, he pulled out a pen and, without missing a beat, wrote his number on Y/N's hand.

"Before we head out, would you like to exchange numbers? Feel free to contact me if you want to chat or need anything," Kuroo said, his tone casual but earnest.

Y/N looked at the number written on her hand, her expression neutral. "Sure," she replied quietly, her voice calm.

Kuroo smiled, pleased with her response. "Great! Well, I should get going. Thanks again for everything today. It was a pleasure meeting you."

He gave a quick wave and headed back to his team. As the Nekoma players prepared to leave, Kuroo glanced back at Y/N one last time. She remained standing in the same spot, absorbing the encounter and the unexpected gesture.

Karasuno's POV:

Tanaka and Nishinoya, who had been observing the post-match activities with their usual enthusiasm, had their eyes fixed on Kuroo and Y/N. From their vantage point, they saw Kuroo approach Y/N and the brief but intriguing exchange that followed.

"Hey, did you see that?" Tanaka whispered to Nishinoya, his voice barely containing his excitement.

"Yeah," Nishinoya replied, his eyes wide with curiosity. "Kuroo was talking to Y/N. I wonder what they were discussing."

The rest of the Karasuno team, including Hinata and Kageyama, watched the interaction with varying degrees of interest. Kageyama, usually focused on the game, couldn't help but notice the subtle dynamics unfolding off the court.

As Kuroo finished his conversation and began to leave, the Karasuno team exchanged curious glances. Y/N, still standing in the same spot, seemed to be processing the encounter. Her calm demeanor remained unchanged, but there was a hint of contemplation in her eyes.

"What do you think that was about?" Yamaguchi asked, his curiosity evident.

"I don't know," Tsukishima replied with a smirk. "But it looks like Kuroo made quite an impression on Y/N."

As the teams wrapped up their post-match activities, Tanaka and Nishinoya continued to discuss the details of the interaction. "Do you think something's going to come of that?" Tanaka asked.

"Hard to say," Nishinoya replied. "But it's clear that Kuroo was interested. And Y/N seemed... well, she seemed kind of taken aback."

The Karasuno team's curiosity lingered as they finished their tasks and prepared to leave the gym. The unexpected exchange between Kuroo and Y/N had added a new layer of intrigue to the day's events, leaving everyone wondering about the future interactions between the two.

As the gym finally cleared and the last of the equipment was put away, Y/N remained reflective, her thoughts undoubtedly on the surprise gesture from Kuroo. The practice match had been intense, but it had also set the stage for new connections and possibilities.
