As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the city, the arena buzzed with the triumphant energy of Karasuno's victories. The players were celebrating, their laughter and cheers blending into the background noise of the evening. The anticipation of the upcoming matches kept the atmosphere electric, but amidst the chaos, Y/N was making her way to the team bus, her mind already shifting to the post-match festivities.
Kuroo spotted Y/N from across the parking lot and made his way toward her with a confident stride. His usual playful demeanor was replaced with a genuine warmth. "Hey, Y/N!" he called out, waving as he approached. "Congratulations on a fantastic day! You and your team were amazing out there."
Y/N looked up, her face lighting up with a smile. "Thanks, Kuroo. It was intense, but we managed to pull through. I'm really proud of everyone."
Before they could continue their conversation, a familiar figure appeared in the distance. Hito, Y/N's ex-boyfriend, walked toward them with a determined expression. Y/N's smile faded as she saw him, a hint of tension creeping into her posture. Kuroo noticed the change and instinctively stepped closer to her.
"Hito," Y/N said, her voice steady but with an underlying edge. "What do you want?"
Hito cleared his throat, his eyes focused on Y/N. "I need to talk to you, Y/N. I know it's sudden, but I want to apologize for everything that happened between us. Can we speak privately?"
Y/N's eyes flicked toward Kuroo, who was standing by her side, his expression a mix of concern and curiosity. "Not now, Hito," she replied firmly. "If you have something to say, say it here. I don't want to be alone with you."
Hito's shoulders slumped slightly, but he nodded. "Alright, if that's what you prefer. I just want to apologize for the past. I've had time to reflect on my mistakes and realize how much I hurt you. I know it's too late to undo the damage, but I hope you can at least hear me out."
Y/N's gaze was impassive, her emotions carefully shielded. Kuroo stood silently beside her, offering his silent support. The crowd's noise seemed to recede as Y/N listened to Hito's words.
There was a long pause as Y/N considered her response. Finally, she spoke, her voice calm and resolute. "I've forgiven you a long time ago, Hito. But I don't want to have anything more to do with you. It's best for us to move on separately."
She gave a polite bow, a gesture of finality. "Goodbye, Hito."
Without waiting for a response, Y/N turned away and reached for Kuroo's wrist, her grip firm but trembling slightly. Kuroo felt the tension in her hand and saw the pained look on her face. He knew this was a difficult moment for her and decided to stay by her side.
As they walked away from the scene, Y/N's composure began to break. Her steps faltered, and Kuroo noticed tears welling up in her eyes.
"Y/N, are you okay?" Kuroo asked softly, his voice laced with concern.
Y/N's shoulders shook as she tried to hold back her tears, but she couldn't manage to keep them in any longer. The floodgates opened, and she began to cry, her emotions spilling out uncontrollably. Kuroo, taken aback by her sudden vulnerability, quickly stepped closer and wrapped his arms around her, offering a comforting embrace.
"It's okay," Kuroo murmured, his voice gentle. "Let it out. I'm here for you."
Y/N clung to him, her sobs muffled against his chest. Kuroo held her tightly, his heart aching at the sight of her tears. Despite her usual cool demeanor, she was clearly struggling, and it made him realize how much she had been holding in. He gently rubbed her back, trying to soothe her as best he could.
After a few minutes, Y/N's sobs gradually subsided. She pulled back, her face flushed and eyes red. She looked up at Kuroo, her expression a mix of gratitude and embarrassment. "Thank you, Kuroo. I needed that. I should head back to my team now; they're waiting for me."
Kuroo gently patted her head, a gesture of both affection and reassurance. "Of course. Please, be safe on your way home. And text me once you're back, alright?"
Y/N nodded, managing a small, appreciative smile. "I will. Thanks again."
As she turned to join her team, Kuroo watched her go, a smile slowly spreading across his face. His thoughts were full of warmth and clarity, mixed with a touch of nervousness. I really do like you, Y/N. More than I ever realized. I just hope I can find the right way to let you know.
Kuroo stood there, his gaze lingering on Y/N as she walked away. The evening air was crisp, and the sounds of celebration continued in the background. As he finally turned to head back, he felt a renewed sense of determination. No matter how challenging it might be, he was committed to finding a way to express his feelings, hoping that one day soon, he might be able to bridge the gap between their unspoken emotions.
