Before the confession....
In Karasuno,
The gym was quiet as Y/N and Shimizu worked diligently, cleaning up after the end-of-season gathering. The air was thick with the scent of sweat and lingering memories of the hard-fought battles. Y/N's hands moved mechanically, but her mind was elsewhere, filled with the bittersweet realization that the team's dynamic was changing.
"You've really been a great support this year," Y/N said, glancing over at Shimizu. "I don't know how I'll manage without you around."
Shimizu smiled warmly, her eyes reflecting the same sadness Y/N felt. "We'll all miss each other, but we have to cherish the moments we've had. Besides, you've got your own journey ahead."
The conversation drifted to lighter topics, but Y/N's thoughts kept circling back to Kuroo. When Shimizu casually mentioned if Y/N was planning to confess her feelings, Y/N hesitated, unsure of how to respond.
"Confess to Kuroo?" Y/N asked, trying to mask her nervousness with a casual tone. "I—I don't know if I'm ready."
At that moment, Hinata bounded over, his usual energy making the heavy air a bit lighter. "Hey Y/N, did you know the Nekoma third-years are graduating tomorrow? Kuroo's leaving soon!"
Y/N's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't realized the time had come so quickly. Kuroo hadn't mentioned his imminent graduation, but then again, he was always one to keep certain things close to his chest. She looked over at Shimizu, whose expression was encouraging but serious.
"Don't wait too long," Shimizu said, her voice gentle but firm. "Sometimes, you need to seize the moment before it's gone."
The words of encouragement from the team came like a steady, supportive rhythm, urging her forward. Y/N felt a renewed sense of urgency and determination. She nodded, feeling the weight of their encouragement pushing her toward a decision.
The next day, Y/N was a whirlwind of activity. She packed her things with a sense of purpose, each item methodically placed as if they were pieces of a larger plan. Shimizu's words echoed in her mind as she made her way to the train station.
As the train glided along the tracks toward Tokyo, Y/N stared out the window, the scenery blurring into a tapestry of color. Her thoughts were a jumble of excitement and nerves. What if Kuroo didn't feel the same way? What if she made a fool of herself? Yet, despite the swirling uncertainties, a smile tugged at her lips as she thought about Kuroo. She was genuinely glad to have met him, and she couldn't let the chance slip away without at least trying.
When the train finally rolled into Tokyo, Y/N's heart raced as she disembarked. The city felt both vast and intimately familiar, a strange mix of overwhelming and comforting. She took a deep breath and headed toward Nekoma's school, her resolve steady.
As she approached the school, she saw Kuroo and his teammates gathered outside, sharing their final moments together before the graduation ceremony. Y/N's steps quickened, her pulse pounding in her ears. She hoped Kuroo would see her before she had a chance to second-guess herself.
