Stelle, expression as blank as ever, suddenly reaches towards you and grabs your hand. Oh god, are they soft and delicate. Nothing like the rough and calloused hands a swordsmaster would have— was this the power of the female lead?
"You seem unwell, Lady Y/n. Has this... boy done anything to make you uncomfortable?"
Dan Heng first seems to be stunned by her statement, before quickly turning defensive and tugging your hand as well, back in his direction.
"I... If anything, you're the one making her uncomfortable with your presence. If you are unable to see how awkward she is around you, I can refer you to a check-up with the royal physician."
"She came up to me first, boy." Then, as though she wasn't pleased by that alone, she muttered under her breath something along the lines of 'always so damn stubborn.'
Sparks fly in the air, and you wrench your hand out of theirs before the situation escalates, quickly dismissing the conversation and moving the topic away.
"I'm doing just fine, both of you. Let's all get along, shall we?"
You turn and just barely miss Stelle's narrowed eyes when you feel a tug on your sleeve from behind. There, with an almost childishly sad expression on his face, was Dan Heng with his delicate fingers clutching onto you tightly.
"She's so rude... Let's go somewhere else, Y/n." He whispers into your ear with a cute pout. Stelle rages internally at the nonsense he was spewing, though tries not to let it show on her face.
Written all over her face were the words I-heard-that-you-bastard, and it makes her features sour, albeit still remaining beautiful in its own 'main character' kind of way.
You purse your lips in increasing anxiety. You felt like you had ruined the whole scene just by being here; how did this go so off-course? The first meeting was supposed to be perfect, for whatever deity is above's sake!
While you pondered over his request with a sickly expression on your face, Dan Heng and Stelle shot each other with more silent glares over your shoulder.
