Chapter 55

Emerald thinks, 'he's in trouble....' She says, "I have to go." Josh says, "wait!" However, Emerald doesn't stop and sprints towards the Dragon King dodging danger at every turn. Josh says, "come on, let's go." Lily takes Josh's hand and run to safety as Emerald soon arrives at the great hall as she sees a hundred men have slung heavy chains over Hunter's Dragon body pinning him to the ground. Cole says, "what's the matter, brother? Don't like the spelled chains I brought? Do they BURN?!." Hunter roars and tries to fight the chains straining as the men below do their best to keep him in place, Cole walks to him saying, "I don't know exactly how to kill you with those powers you stole from me, but I will have a lot of fun figuring it out." Emerald sees everyone cowering in fear and picks up an abandoned shoe to throw at Cole's back. Emerald says, "hey! you were going to hurt me to hurt him, remember?." Cole slowly turns to face her, his bloody smile growing into a sinister, unsettling grin saying, "oh, how could I forget you, Emerald?."  As Cole comes for her, Hunter rockets upward with a burst of remaining strength, breaking his chains. Cole says, "shit!." Hunter lunges for his brother, taking him in his mouth and slamming through the castle walls out onto the grounds; Emerald runs outside with the crowd of onlookers expecting to find Cole bit in half but no, Cole has transformed, and he is locked into a vicious battle with Hunter. Hunter blasts Cole with his purple flame, stinging his shoulder as Cole roars and rears back; Emerald suddenly feels something sharp in her hand saying, "Rowan's spelled knife, perhaps Cole's weak spot is same as Hunter's since they are twins." Raising the dagger, she sprints for Cole aiming for the center of his heart however right before the blade meets his skin, Cole grabs her wrist forcing her to the ground with immense strength. He transforms back into his human body laughing and saying, "you think it'd be that easy to kill me? think again!." Hunter says, "NOOO!!!." As he tries to grab Emerald, he is too late as Cole lunges for her as he rips the bandage from her arm saying, "you are too slow, Emerald!." Hunter says, "NO!." Cole raises her arm to show the Dragon's mark as Emerald realises what is happening and is shocked. 

Cole says, "yes look everyone, look at what your pathetic false King has done with the disgusting creature." Hunter shakes with rage, Cole drags a cold finger down her arm with a taunting grin as she tries to shove him off saying, "get off of me!." Cole says, "nice try but you are still just a weak, pathetic human, a pathetic human that my brother had no business mate bonding with!." Hunter grits his teeth, his hands balling into shaking fists, Dragons all around him whisper and glare saying, "disgusting... weak... unbelievable." Emerald says, "please, it's not what you think! This was against Hunter's will!." Cole says, "the only thing worse than Hunter bonding with you willingly is succumbing to you without consent!." Emerald says, "wait, that is not what I meant, I-." The Dragons shout spewing spiteful insults as the human gape in horror. Annabelle says, "I always knew you were a traitor, Hunter deep down I knew it." Emerald thinks, 'how dare she, she has known our secret for days.' Emerald says, "Annabelle, you are the real traitor!." Annabelle says, "as though anyone would believe that you filthy slut! It's one thing for him to name you his little mistress but to think he took you as his secret mate? it makes my stomach churn." Hunter says, "don't you-." Cole says, "careful brother, do you really want to defend her after everything you've done? After all, you not only marked this vile slave... you hid from your people as well."  The whispers rise, growing colder and harsher, churning into a cyclone of hatred, the Dragon calls out, "He what?!....No...How could he?!." Cole says, "look at her arm, the mark is well inlaid into her skin, it has been hidden beneath that bandage for weeks, your so-called King deceived you ALL...." Hunter stumbles back, his throat rising and falling as his worst fear materializes, his subjects spit venomous words at him, throwing things and half shifting in their wrath. They yells, "you defiled your sacred office! FALSE KING!." Emerald thinks, 'no, I can't let them do this to him.' Emerald yells, "HOW DARE YOU ALL ACT LIKE THIS! he has served you all faithfully, from the day he received his crown!." Hunter says, "Emerald...." 

Emerald says, "Hunter is a fierce ruler, he's kept you all safe and used his godly power only for your benefit! For you to turn on him so easily... over something he could not control... it makes you all the traitors! Not him!." Dragons and humans alike flinch at her words, taken aback as Cole can feel the tide turning, he boils over and grabs the nearest guard by his collar saying, "you will take them away, NOW!." He shoves the guard towards her and out of hatred or fear, the guard grabs Emerald as four more descend on Hunter. Cole says, "I want them in the darkest pit this castle has to offer." Hunter moves to attack Cole but a dozen more guards pile on and haul him away before he can. The cell they shove Emerald and Hunter in is lit only by a few dim candles, the air is thick with the pain of all its wall have witnessed. Hunter yells, "GET OFF ME!!." Hunter thrashes like a feral animal, his captors clamp metal cuffs around his wrists, chaining him to the wall, when the metal hits his wrist, he slumps as though all of his strength has suddenly sapped from him. Cole says, "you look good like that, Hunter chained up like the dog you are. doesn't he look good like that, Emerald? almost like you, a dirty little human, his sexual fantasy come to life." Hunter snarls saying, "DON'T FUCKING TOUCH HER!." Emerald looks at Hunter saying, "it's alright Hunter, he is nothing compared to me." Cole says, "let's test that theory, I will show you just how many screams I can wring out of you." Hunter says, "threaten her again and I will-." Cole comes closer saying, "you will what?! hm? Look around, little brother you have lost... you heard your people, they want nothing to do with you." Emerald says, "that is because they are blind to how much of a monster you are, how you will destroy them with your lust for power." Cole growls saying, "keep talking, I dare you." Black aura wraps around Cole with sinister strength it makes her heart skip as he says, "right now, I am feeling generous but that could easily change." He comes closer to Emerald saying, "see, come morning, at my coronation... you will both be executed." Emerald shakes her head in fear as Hunter says, "you BASTARD!." Cole grabs Emerald saying, "I plan for you to die first, Emerald... I like the idea of my brother suffering in pain of your loss but keep running that pretty mouth of yours and I will keep you alive, far longer than you'd like to be." Emerald doesn't back down as Cole uses his power to hurt as she screams in pain with Hunter calling, "Emerald!!!!." Hunter thrashes against his chains desperate to reach her, cursing his brother with every foul name he can think of; just as quickly as it started, the pain stops as Cole walks off of the cell slamming it shut behind him. He says, "enjoy your last night together, if you thought that was bad.... you have no idea what I have planned for you come dawn." Emerald is on the floor as Hunter says, "Emerald, speak to me? are you ok? what did he do to you?!." Emerald struggles to her feet stumbling over to Hunter saying, "Hunter, we need to get out of here." She tries to remove the chains as he says, "no Emerald, listen to me you are not chained... you need to go."
