Chapter 45

Hunter reaches up and cups Emerald's face, stroking her cheek; he slowly slides into the water with her lifting Emerald beneath the pool's surface. Hunter says, "if I had not met you... if you had died that day...." His grip on her thighs strengthens as an answering heat rises up within her. Hunter says, "nothing in my life would have been worth living for." Emerald says, "Hunter- I can't deny you anymore." She presses her lips to Hunter's lingering there, feeling him melt against her as he says, "Emerald-." he pulls her closer, growling through the kiss. He says with a smile, "I cannot hold back, not with you baby... not anymore." Emerald feels herself being drawn closer to Hunter as her eyes widen with delight saying, "I don't want you to, Hunter." Hunter pulls her closer as he begins to kiss her neck and claims her lips feeling the passion igniting between them as he places her gently saying, "god Emerald... you are so fucking gorgeous!." Emerald feels the sincerity in his voice as she is suddenly interrupted by his hand removing her bra and dress; Emerald arches herself closer and removes his robe as she gasp feeling Hunter move inside her as he says, "that's right baby, let go and feel me." 

Hunter thrusts himself in and out of her as she moans in delight feeling their bond ignite as Emerald kisses Hunter who moans softly into his mouth as he kisses her; Emerald says, "Hunter... H-Hunter... Oooh...." Hunter covers her mouth briefly and whispers in her ears, "shh, baby." Emerald stares deep into Hunter's eyes as he slides down her neck collarbone, kissing every inch as he moves down and removes Emerald's knicker as she pulls Hunter into her saying, "I want you! I need you!." Hunter thrusts himself into her as she moans with pleasure as she feels her Dragon's mark burning with desire. Hunter stops as he looks at Emerald asking, "is this ok, Emerald?." Emerald replies, "it's more than ok, Hunter." As she grips Hunter he lets himself melt into her as he says, "Emerald... baby... I love you." Emerald stops for a moment looking at Hunter before pinning him down and laying on top of him saying, "sorry Hunter, I am taking control." She kisses him passionately before slowly trailing down his abs and kissing his scars. Hunter says, "mmm....Emerald.... baby." Eventually they both catch their breath as she says, "that's it, my King." Hunter asks, "are you trying to get me to submit to you, Emerald? you did not even give me a response." Emerald remembered a few moments ago when Hunter confessed his love to her as she replies, "I..." Hunter silences her with a kiss before soon helping her get dresses as she lays in Hunter's arm. Emerald thinks, 'god, this was so perfect... making love to Hunter and hearing him say he loves me....' Hunter says, "you were perfect, baby!." However, they soon hear birds chirping as Hunter says, "no.. not yet please!." Emerald asks worriedly, "what is it, Hunter?." Hunter looks up replying, "it's almost morning, the sky is waking up... the wedding, we cannot avoid it anymore." Emerald feels a sharp pain in her heart remembering the promise that Hunter had made to marry Annabelle. Emerald looks at Hunter asking, "can't we just run away, Hunter? a place just me and you." 

Hunter looks at her deeply with pain answering, "as much as I would love to do that, you know we cannot, Emerald." Emerald gets up asking, "Hunter... when you spend the night with her... will you.. mark..?." Hunter replies, "yes, everyone will expect my mark to appear on her body." Emerald feels her Dragon's mark saying, "but it will not, will it?." Hunter says, "no, like I said, this mark only appears on one mate, and it is permanent, it's lifelong." Emerald asks, "what will happen then? when it doesn't disappear." Hunter replies, "I really don't know." As Emerald stares up at Hunter who bandages her mark, realising how great the weight of the situation is upon his shoulders however before she can say anything the door is unlocked. The high Priest says, "well, now look at the two of you," he ambles into the cave with his familiar, unreadable smile looking at them up and down. As he looks at Emerald asking, "you were able to tame the beast within, child?." Emerald replies, "I was able to with some effort." The high Priest looks at Hunter saying, "brave words, I see you can back them up." Hunter says, "yes, she was braver than ten of my strongest men." Hunter turns and places his hand on her waist as Emerald leans into him, all too aware that this is the last time he will get to touch her before his wedding. The high priest says, "very good, promised one." Emerald says, "there is it again, that name he gave me when he said I'd change the fabric of the world." The high Priest says, "well, I'm afraid this is goodbye between you, the Queen-to-be has requested you presence, Emerald." Emerald was stunned saying, "m-me?." Hunter says, "I would rather keep her by my side, high Priest." He says, "I'm sure you would, but you are needed elsewhere, my lord."
