The Dragon's Mate

Chapter 2

Hunter says, "you were stupid to fight them, brave but reckless." Emerald says, "oh, yeah? You're a fool for taking me on alone!." Hunter smirks saying, "you have quite the mouth on you, human." Emerald says confidently, "that's not all I have, Dragon." She raises the knife at him boldly saying, "I will fight you, too take one more step and see what happens." Hunter says, "yeah? Show me what you've got!." Hunter steps forward as Emerald swings the knife as hard as she can as she almost kicks him however he dodges; the force sends her flying forward right toward a pile of red-hot burning rubble. Hunter yells, "Careful!." With inhuman speed, Hunter grabs her wrist and pulls Emerald into his powerful arms as before she can finish her attack, fire erupts in her veins. Emerald screams, "Ahh!." 

Hunter lets go of her as he says stunned, "What-?." Emerald drops to her knees screaming from the unbearable agonising pain. Slowly an ancient marking rises to the surface of her skin, settling black upon her arm. Emerald sees her arm as she gets up shocked saying, "what- what is this?." Hunter was even more shocked saying, "no... it's impossible..you....." Emerald asks, "What did you do to me? Poison me? Burn me? Brand me?." Hunter replies, "I can assure you it's no poison or burn, it's-." Hunter tries to reach forward to touch her however Emerald pulls away; she is filled with anger and fear saying, "Don't! D-don't come near me!." Emerald jumps over a small flame and runs back into the house as Nathan sees her saying angrily, "HOW DARE YOU COME BACK IN HERE! YOU WILL LEAD THE BEASTS RIGHT TO US!."

Suddenly the door is ripped off its hinges as standing there illuminated by glowing embers is Hunter. Hunter says, "Emerald." Emerald was shocked and stunned to see Hunter wondering, 'what? how does he know my name?.' His eyes flash purple as they lock onto Emerald sending a jolt of shock through her body. Hunter says, "you're coming with me!." Emerald says, "No way!." She tries to leave however Hunter grips her wrist and pulls her out of the door; Emerald tries to fight Hunter as he drags her into night. Emerald thinks annoyed and frustrated, 'ugh he's too damn strong.' Just then Nathan comes out asking, "where do you think you are going?!." Hunter lets go of her as Emerald turns to look at him saying, "dad?." Nathan angrily points at Hunter saying, "you have not even paid for her yet!." 

Emerald was stunned by Nathan's word saying, "p-pay for me? How could you, dad?!." Nathan doesn't show any remorse replying, "how could I not? You're nothing but a ripe piece of fruit for me to sell." Nathan laughs coldly at her face as she feels his words pain her heart and worse than any beating she had ever faced. Hunter looks at Emerald as she notices this with a softness expression in his eyes; he says, "you heard your dad, Emerald he wants payment, tell me... how would you have me pay your dad back for all he's done for you?." Emerald looks at Nathan thinking, 'he's the same man who abused me and beat me.. the man who wouldn't hesitate to sell me to the highest bidder like a pawn.'

Emerald says, "give him what he deserves, pay my dad by breaking his nose." Nathan was stunned to hear Emerald's word saying, "wait, What? No!." Hunter goes forward and beats, punches, and makes Nathan bleed and bruise as he screams out, "Aggghhhhh! Emerald, how could you?!." Emerald angrily replies pointing her finger back at Nathan saying, "no, Dad how could you? You've never cared about me! This is what you deserve!." She turns to Hunter saying, "I don't know how to thank you... and I am still not going with you." Hunter says firmly, "I'm afraid you have no choice." 

He transforms into a Dragon as his glistening scales ripple in the moonlight like black diamonds. Emerald sees his eyes shining bright purple which are just as fierce as in his human form. Nathan was stunned and shocked saying, "P-Purple eyes? That mean he's the-." Before Nathan could finish his words, Hunter opens his enormous incredible wings and sweeps Emerald off her feet, holding her gently within his claw as he soars into the sky. Emerald screams, "No, wait! Stop! Let me go!." Emerald soon blacks out feeling the wind in her hair and face thinking, 'oh god, I hope I am not dead...'.
