Chapter 37

Emerald says, "what?!." She looks up at Hunter, he stares at her, his sharp features glinting in the candlelight asking, "do you really think I was afraid for my own life?." Emerald replies, "no, I should not have said that." Hunter says, "no, you shouldn't have." With inhuman speed and strength, Hunter takes her face in his hands saying, "you should know by now that you are my only priority and concern." His eyes, as deep and churning as the depths of the sea, bore into her. Emerald says, "Hunter-". He drags his thumb over her bottom lip, parting it for him. He says, "I can't lose you, Emerald, I have lost too much in this wretched life of mine, far too much." Hunter pulls her in, pressing his scorching mouth to hers. Emerald wraps her arms and legs around him deepening their kiss as Hunter puts her onto the bed without breaking their moment. He stops to let Emerald catch her breath but holds her gently saying, "I cannot lose you, too. I can't." Emerald sees the sincerity in his eyes as Hunter kisses her again and slowly goes down to her neck as his hands glide over the curves of her body as Emerald says, "Hunter, you won't ever lose me, I am here right now... feel me." Hunter says, "Emerald...." He growls her name in response, the low pleasing rumble of his chest sending a wave of pleasure through her as his hand moves slowly down Hunter catches Emerald's mouth in another kiss as they lose themselves deeper before loosening their clothes. Hunter asks, "may I?." Emerald replies, "you... don't have to ask." Hunter replies, "yes I do." He removes her dress as he stares at her naked body whilst she feels a little shy looking at him; Hunter says, "my god, you're gorgeous." He kisses every inch of her body as she lets out a moan saying, "Hunter-." Hunter says, "baby I need you." 

Their kiss deepens as Emerald feels their bond burning bright as Hunter gasps into her hair, Emerald feels him grow hard against her as he says, "I can't get enough of you." Hunter kisses down her neck and stomach as he leaves a trail of pleasure with every touch. Hunter says, "damn, I need you more, you are like a drug to me... intoxicating me in every touch, I need you Emerald, say yes." Emerald says, "yes, I need you Hunter too." Hunter slowly thrusts himself into her as they share another kiss, and she moans with pleasure; Emerald soon arches her back as Hunter teases her sending even more explosions of pleasure through her body. Hunter says, "oh god, yes!." Emerald thinks, 'I have never felt like this before!.' He says, "you taste so sweet, so fucking sweet!." Emerald digs her hand in his hair, throwing her head back in ecstasy as his tongue dances over her chest then he pulls himself back breathless saying, "we should stop, before I go too far." Emerald opens her mouth to speak however he quickly grabs a robe and covers Emerald up as she asks, "are you feeling alright?." Hunter turns away replying, "I am ok." Emerald wonders, 'is he...sad?.' Emerald sighs before saying, "Hunter... when you said you'd already lost too much in your life... were you talking about... your future? Because of your curse?." Hunter replies, "no, it's not that, Emerald." He turns and rubs his forehead as she feels the distance on the bed seem to grow. She says, "I know you do not want to talk about it, but-". Hunter says, "it won't do any good." Emerald says, "I don't believe that." 

Hunter says, "I was talking about my brother, my twin... I was... responsible for his death." Emerald was surprised wondering, 'so Hunter was a twin, and lost his brother, just like me.' Hunter says, "I was forced to kill my twin brother in a battle I didn't want to fight." Emerald says, "you couldn't talk things out or walked away?." Hunter answers, "I don't know, maybe I could have done things differently, perhaps I could have saved him, but I didn't, he died, and it was the last loss my mother could bear, she already lost my father because of the curse, when she lost my brother.... she killed herself." Emerald was shocked saying, "oh my god!." Hunter says, "in a noticeably short time, I lose everyone I ever loved... I killed my family; my own death won't compare to that pain." Emerald thinks, 'Hunter thinks he is responsible for their deaths?.' Emerald moves closer and takes her hand in his saying, "Hunter... I won't say I understand the scope of your pain, I could never but I have known the pain of losing a twin, and I have blamed myself for it just like you have." Hunter says, "Emerald...." She says, "listen to me, you didn't kill your family, you could never." Hunter is stiff in her arms, his massive body trembling at her words as she further says, "I know you are not capable of something like that." Emerald wraps her body closer to him as he soon begins to relax and warms up to her touch as he places his hand over hers. Hunter says, "thank you, Emerald."
