The Dragon's Mate

Chapter 66

He yells, "NO...NO...NOOOOOOO!." Hunter is still holding Emerald as she smiles saying, "Yes," Cole's demise awakens something within her as a small light glows bright for one last time with a surge of strength she rises to her feet. Hunter says, "Emerald, don't-." Emerald says, "it's alright Hunter, I have to do this." Her body buzzes, blood coursing through her veins it's as if an invisible shield falls over her wounded stomach as she hears the whisper of her power calling out to her; Emerald slowly whispers with her eyes closed thinking, 'let me use you, before you end.' The purple dragonflame that licks the fields rushes in, wrapping itself around her and becoming one. Cole was stunned saying, "What- what are you-?." She opens her eyes saying, "I am ending this." Her eyes flame alight with the same purple power that Hunter and Cole once possessed as she says, "the power of the Dragon King belongs to me." Cole says, "bullshit, you are just a fucking human, a half-dead one at that, you cannot possibly control the power of my forefathers." Emerald says, "I can do more than that, Cole I can tear you apart." 

Cole's eyes widen as she feels herself lift from the ground; a swirling cyclone of purple fire churns around ready to do her bidding. With all the force of a Dragon King, she summon forth the whips of the flame as they sling tightly around Cole's limbs and throat lifting him high into the air. Cole says, "this is...impossible-." Emerald says, "you only think it's impossible because you don't believe in humanity and humans." Emerald strides over to Cole suspending from the air as she says, "you do not believe in anyone other than yourself." Cole says, "I see now that I made a mistake in keeping you alive, when I get this power back I will end you no matter what it fucking takes baby girl." Emerald says, "that will never happen." Cole tries to fight the ropes as Emerald tightens her power around Cole's throat as he struggles to breathe. He says, "Nngh!." Emerald says, "apologise, you bastard!." Cole says, "for what?." Emerald replies, "for everything you have done, torturing your people, imprisoning me, trying to kill Hunter and for murdering my twin brother...apologise and I will make this quick." Emerald flicks her wrist as the flames squeeze Cole tighter and he winces before saying, "I'm....s-sorry...for not doing more." Emerald is stunned as he flashes a bloody grin and laughs saying, "I am sorry I did not make your brother's death slower; I am sorry you don't have any memory of that little prick screaming... I'm sorry I did not show you true suffering back then and now." Cole spits in Emerald's face as she wipes it away feeling a vicious heat rising within her soul. Emerald says, "you are nothing by a monster responsible for so much trauma, I cannot even count any people you have abused but this how things end for you,and you will not win!." Cole laughs saying, "who will make me suffer? you?." Emerald asks, "you think you know the meaning of the word' suffering'? just by giving it out." Cole says, "I am suffering and pain embodied." Emerald smirks saying, "you are just a PATHETIC MONSTER! I will give you a taste of the suffering you have inflicted upon others." Cole says, "I'd like to see you try, you little-," his insult is cut off when Emerald hurls purple flames into his mouth, tears prick his eyes as she holds it steady in his throat. Emerald says, "what's the matter? Does it BURN?!." Emerald then lifts him higher and higher until he is at the centre of the deadly cyclone as she whispers into her flames urging them on, they glow brighter at her words as Cole back feels arched in pain as he screams out, "Nngh!!." 

Emerald asks, "what's that? I can't quite hear you," she brings the flames down deeper into his stomach as they burn a hole there bursting through his gut as he screams out, "AAAGGH! GAAHHH!!." Emerald says, "that is right, scream, scream like so many of your victims screamed and APOLOGISE."  With a final surge, she encases him in the flame as she feels it seizing every inch of his flesh as she says, "you once spoke of laying me alive, ripping my skin from my body and making me eat it... let's see how you like it, Cole." She pulls her arm back; the flames tear his skin from his body ever so slowly as Cole yells out. "AGHHH PLEASE!! I AM SORRY!!! SPARE ME!!." Emerald says, "that's what I thought, but too fucking late," bending her whole body back she commits the final act, Cole's skin is torn clean from his bones and stuffed down his throat as every inch of him aches in agony as he hangs in there tasting the vengeance of so many victims human and Dragons alike however after several long tortuous minutes he finally dies. Emerald finally lets go of the cyclone of fire, the flames of her wrath all of it detonates into a sparkling painless burst. Exhausted she falls backward into Hunter's waiting arms as he says, "My God...Emerald." Emerald looks at Hunter saying, "Hunter I'm sorry I had no choice, we don't have to worry anymore, we can-." Hunter hugs her and kisses her forehead saying,"Shh, save your strength baby." Emerald reaches out to touch Hunter but soon feels a wrenching pain unlike anything she has ever felt before and grips herself thinking, 'No...not now...' She curls in on herself clutching her wound as the last of her protective power melts away and blood pours through her fingers.
