The call came on a Tuesday, Shannon's parents had both died in a fire.

It was a shock to say the least.

By the graces of god Feely had managed to rescue Shannon and all of her siblings before the fire was set.

But both her mother and father were burnt to death.

Not that it was a tragedy that Teddy Lynch was gone. However, my heart ached for Shannon.

I couldn't imagine the pain she must feel.

It was now Friday and it had been four days since the fire.

I was laying in Johnny's arms, trying desperately to switch my mind to anything other than the hurt one of my best friends must be feeling.

I felt a tear fall out of my eye and onto Johnny's bicep.

His very nice bicep.
But I couldn't bring myself to smile or anything.

I was an empath.
When others hurt, I hurt.

"Are you okay, baby?" Johnny whispered into my hair.

I hugged him tighter and forced out, "No."

"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked, now rubbing my back.

"No," I sighed, burying my face deeper into his chest.

I tried to focus on how perfectly I fit in his arms, or how good he smelled.

But I couldn't.

"I just want to know how she's doing," I cried, feeling helpless.

Shannon hadn't informed anyone on how she was coping with the matter. Not that I could blame her.

"I know, baby. Feely said she's managing," He kissed the top of my head.

I knew she was staying at Patrick's with his family and her siblings. He had sent a few texts saying she was managing but that was it.

My phone ringing startled me, making me jump in Johnnys arms.

I felt Johnnys body shift as he reached for my phone.

"It's Claire," He informed me.

I lifted my head from his chest and took the phone out of his hand before accepting the call.

"Hello?" I sniffled into the line.

"Hi," Claire mumbled, sounding just as distraught as me, "Are you busy?"

Freeing myself from Johnnys arms, I sat upright in my bed, "No. Is everything alright?"

Johnny also sat up, scanning my face for signs of worry.

"Yeah. I was just calling to let you know that Mrs. Feely called," Claire croaked, "She told me to bring you and Lizzie over to their house. She thinks it'd be good for Shan."
