Third person pov:
The moonlight casted a silvery glow over the water and it was the final night of the exam. The teachers will announce the winners in the morning. Class D students were spending the last day around a campfire talking amongst each other while some others were getting a good night rest. Meanwhile, Y/N was moving on with her plan with purpose and precision. It was already beginning to set in motion.
Ayanokoji was carrying Horikita to the teachers' base. His strategy was to the point. He wanted to present himself as the only one fit to be the leader and secure Class D's position. But y/n had already took the initiative and out maneuvered ayanokoji.
Ayanokoji arrived to the teachers' base with Horikita. His confidence in winning was unwavering, but he had not realized that there was a larger game to this. One that he could not see. He tells the teachers that Horikita is sick and that he wanted to be class leader in place of her. The teachers agreed and give Ayanokoji a key card and state that leadership will transition to him from Horikita.
Rewind before Ayanokoji arrived:
Y/n pov:
I made my way to the teachers base and kept my composure. I figured I would have some time since Horikita would probably awake soon and then Ayanokoji would probably have to convince Horikita to return to the ship. Knowing Horikita's stubbornness, it should buy me enough time with the teachers.
"I need to speak with you immediately." I proclaimed, keeping my voice steady. "Horikita is very sick and I believe I should take her place as leader of Class D. Ayanokoji is going to arrive with her soon and propose to be the leader instead."
The teachers exchanged glances. Then Chabashira spoke, "Why should we trust you and why should you be leader and not Ayanokoji. Especially when Ayanokoji is the one bringing Horikita and not you" The other teachers nodded and looked at me suspiciously, especially since I did not even bring Horikita with me.
"Because I believe that Ayanokoji will betray Class D.." I then glanced at Chabashira "You know how he acts.." She winced a little, she knew exactly what I meant by that. "Give Ayanokoji a fake key card identical to the real one, once that is done I will come back here and receive the real key card and become leader of Class D.
The teachers looked torn by my proposal, but nodded reluctantly. "Alright, assuming you are telling the truth, we will give you the real key card after Ayanokoji arrives and receives the fake one."
And with that a final nod of approval, I left the teachers base and headed back into the darkness. I must be out of sight before Ayanokoji arrived and decided to head back to Class D.
End of Rewind
Y/n pov:
I told my classmates that I was going to search for Ibuki one more time before the night ended. Saying this would raise no suspicions of what I was actually doing. The reason why I wanted to leave before Ayanokoji arrived was so he could not follow me or analyze me in any sort of way.
I arrived to the teachers' quarters once again. "We have the real key card for you and leadership of class D has been transferred to you" one of them said as he handed it over to me. I accepted the key card happily. Other ways to gain points was swiping the card to claim more areas, which was exactly what I was going to do tonight. Before we arrived on the island, the ship took a loop around. This was for us to look at the island and think of spots to set place at.
As I walked away from the teachers, I could not help but reflect on todays events. The way Ayanokoji was just focused on the endgame and overlooked the smaller details that shifted the board, by yours truly. I knew that while he played his game with outstanding strategy, I was already rewriting the rules. I saw the broader picture while he was only focused on winning. That will be his downfall.
One by one I started securing all the spots, gaining points for our class. I started to think of the white room. I was raised to believe people around me are just pawns used to get a step ahead in life, whether it was to make more money, get that promotion they always wanted, or solely for just personal game of appearing better than everyone. I wondered if Ayanokoji maybe thought the same way, except there was only one white room in existence.
If he was there I would of definitely remembered him, the way he carries himself, the determination he has on being the best, and most importantly that stupid expression he always has. The thing is though...the only thing I remembered was that I was the last one standing in the white room.
