"Do you really think this plan is going to work? Can we actually save the President?" Atsushi's voice trembled with worry as he sat beside Fukuzawa, who lay unconscious on the stretcher. The wail of the ambulance's sirens cut through the night as Kunikida gripped the steering wheel, his eyes fixed with fierce determination on the road ahead.

Ranpo, usually so carefree, sat in uncharacteristic silence, his expression dark. "Whether it works or not, it'll buy us time," he muttered, staring out the window. "Right now, our only option is to get the Port Mafia's help in tracking down the virus ability user. If we can bring him to Dazai in time, we might have a chance. Otherwise... Tanizaki could be next."

A heavy silence fell over the group. Atsushi clenched his fists, the tension clear in his eyes. The weight of the situation hung thick in the air until Kunikida finally broke the silence.

"And Y/N? You really think she'll be alright, going head-to-head with Chuuya?" His voice wavered with concern as he navigated the ambulance through the winding streets.

Ranpo glanced at him, his expression unreadable. "Not at all," he said calmly. "She's not ready to face Chuuya one-on-one."

The air grew colder in the ambulance, everyone freezing in shock. "What?!" Kunikida's voice was sharp, disbelief coloring his tone. "Then why did you send her out there, Ranpo-san?"

Ranpo adjusted his hat slightly, leaning back. "Because she's not fighting alone, I've sent her someone else to help her," he replied evenly. "Her job isn't to defeat Chuuya; it's to keep him distracted, long enough for us to find the virus user. Y/N is buying us time."

Yosano looked like she wanted to press further, but Ranpo cut her off before she could speak. "We don't have time for more questions. Our focus is finding the virus user before the Port Mafia gets any more involved." His sharp gaze left no room for argument.

Kunikida gritted his teeth, pushing the accelerator harder as the city blurred past them. Time was slipping through their fingers, and every second counted.

Y/N's P.O.V

The rooftop felt like a battlefield. Wind howled through the chaos, debris spinning wildly in the air as the force of our abilities clashed. Gravity pulsed in waves around us, my power struggling to match Chuuya's unrelenting strength. Each of his attacks sent shockwaves tearing through the ground, but I held my own, using gravity to deflect and counter as best as I could.

I wasn't sure how long I could keep this up. But I couldn't afford to let him see that.

Chuuya's eyes burned with frustration-and something else. "Who the hell are you?!" he shouted over the roaring wind, his voice cutting through the noise. "How can you wield the same power as me?"

A smirk tugged at my lips beneath the mask. I sidestepped another one of his attacks, narrowly avoiding the ground-shattering force. "Maybe you'll find out-if you can manage to beat me," I taunted, keeping my voice steady, though my heart was racing.

His scowl deepened, and in a blur of movement, he launched himself into the air, hands slamming together as the ground beneath me shattered. Chunks of debris flew toward me, the force of gravity crushing down.

I barely managed to counter in time, using my own power to suspend the debris in mid-air before it could collapse on me. "You're good," Chuuya muttered, his tone grudging. "But you're not me. You don't know what it's like to truly wield this power."

Before I could respond, he lunged forward with lightning speed, his fist aimed directly at my head. I raised my arm just in time, the impact sending a shockwave through my entire body. The sheer force almost knocked me off my feet, but I pushed back with a surge of gravity, forcing him to retreat.

We stood at a standoff, both of us panting, the tension between us thick in the air. I could feel my strength waning. Keeping pace with him was draining me faster than I anticipated, but I refused to show it.

Chuuya's frustration grew with each passing second. His confusion twisted into anger. "There's no way you should have this ability!" he shouted, eyes blazing. "The only other person who had it was Verlaine, and he's dead!"

My eyes widened for a brief moment. Verlaine? I'd never heard that name before and was there even another person who yields the same ability. But now wasn't the time to ask. I couldn't give anything away, couldn't let him catch even a glimpse of the truth.

He pressed on, throwing question after question at me between attacks, his confusion twisting into anger. "Did you steal this ability? Who are you working for?!"

"I didn't steal anything," I muttered under my breath, dodging another attack. I've had this ability as long as I can remember-but I couldn't tell him that. I didn't even remember my own past clearly, not before I was six.

Each movement was getting harder to maintain, my energy fading. I could feel the winds picking up, and my hood began to slip back, exposing more of my face. My mask shifted slightly. Panic surged in my chest. I can't let him see my face-I can't let him connect the dots.

Not yet.

I had to end this. Now.

"Now, Poe!" I shouted, my voice sharp and commanding.

In an instant, the air shimmered as Poe's ability activated. The pages of his book materialized around us, reality warping as the rooftop faded. Chuuya's form began to dissolve, being pulled into the world of Poe's novel.

But just as the final pages closed around him, a gust of wind tore against me, pulling back my hood and shifting my mask. My heart skipped a beat as I hurriedly adjusted it, pulling the fabric back into place.

I glanced up, catching a glimpse of Chuuya's wide eyes. But it was just Poe's ability that had shocked him. Nothing more.

"Wait-" Chuuya's voice strained, but before he could finish, the book swallowed him whole, sealing him inside.

I let out a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding, my hands shaking as I pulled my hood back up. He was gone.

For now.

I staggered back, legs trembling from exhaustion as I struggled to catch my breath. Whatever Chuuya had been trying to say faded from my mind as the weight of the fight caught up to me. We had succeeded the first part -for now. I quickly readjusted my mask, hoping it hadn't slipped enough for him to see anything.

Poe approached me, nodding as he steadied me. "Ranpo-san messaged me." he said, his voice calm despite the chaos that had just unfolded. "He wants you to call him."

I nodded, still catching my breath, my mind spinning from the intensity of the battle. As we made our way down from the rooftop, I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that something had slipped through my grasp in those final moments. Who was Verlaine? And why did Chuuya think I'd stolen this power?

But now wasn't the time for questions. We still had a job to finish. Shaking off the unease, I pulled out my phone and dialed Ranpo's number. Just as I brought it to my ear, a wave of dizziness hit me hard. My vision blurred, the world around me slowly fading.

I could hear Poe's voice, faint and distant, calling my name as he rushed toward me. But it was no use. The strength left my body, and everything went dark as I collapsed, the last sound I heard was Poe's footsteps, then

... silence.
